The fishneedit 24" T5 fixtures are finally ready for sale so I ordered two first thing this morning. Hopefully they won't take too long to get here. I'm anxious to see how it all looks put together.

Wow, nice zoa's! Consider my hand raised for when you sell some frags :)

noirsphynx 06-20-2009 05:46 PM

Picked up a small orange coral hermit crab a few days ago. It's all orange with red claws.

A tailspot Blenny would be fine in your tank. They only get a max of 2.5" and require a minimum 10g.

paddyob 06-20-2009 06:29 PM

Hmmm

I haven't had him long enough to tell how they are personally but they're supposed to be a peaceful fish.

"Generally found amid crevices and rocks on the bottom of its environment, the Tail Spot Blenny needs a tank of at least 10 gallons with plenty of live rock for grazing, perching and hiding. They should not be housed with aggressive species that may intimidate these fish into hiding.

The diet of the Tail Spot Blenny should include vegetable matter, including frozen and dried foods containing marine and blue-green algae. It will also feed on (and help control) algae growing in the aquarium."

noirsphynx 06-27-2009 01:59 AM

My fishneedit T5 fixture's arrived a few days ago. I have one of their blue bulbs in each fixture but replaced the other 2 bulbs with Fiji purples. I managed to find those locally at Marine Aquaria so thankfully I didn't have to wait to have them shipped.

I also messed around with the rock today. Not sure if it was a good move or not:neutral:. I took out 15lbs of it and smashed the larger pieces so I can't even put it back the way it was.

Thanks Kelly, I'm very pleased with it. So what frags did ya get? I wish the pearlberry had of been available.

sharuq1 06-27-2009 05:00 AM

I got a frag of booberry digi, a blue monti cap (both these are a browned out atm but I'm hoping they restore to their original coloration) and a christmas milli from fooser. Also got some pretty nice zoas from RC, Ocean city and fragnplug. :D Was a fun day. I'll post pics in my thread, maybe we can trade sometime.

sharuq1 06-27-2009 05:01 AM

I have the Boo Berry Digi too but I don't think I've seen a blue cap before. Trading would be awesome. I have over 30 different zoa's/paly's in my little cube so fragging will happen quite a bit I imagine.

Thanks Doug. My tank was going to be mainly sps but I've gone kinda zoa nutz lately and I'm not done collecting them. I don't know what I'm going to do once they all start growing............they'll totally take over the tank, lol.

Haha, it does kinda look like the enterprise.

Thanks Asmodeus  I think I'm liking it better too. It's definitely brighter without so much rock.

Only took 24 hours in my tank and already he's managed to camoflauge himself to the color of the coraline. Very cool, I didn't think he'd change color that fast.

Super cool! I take it these guys can change color kind of like chameleons? Does he have any tank mates?

Yeah, he can change pretty quick. He's continuously changing between orange & purple and from what my daughter told me today while I was out he looked kind of green. No tank mates for him, they can eat things just as big and sometimes bigger than them.

thats an understatement. My boss once saw a frogfish that was about 8-10" long, and within 24 hours it ate a voliton lionfish, a dogface puffer, and a wobegong shark.(all a fairly large size)
did i mention that it was almost 2 times the size when he saw it the naxt day?

yup. and the funny thing is, even after ingesting a poisonous fish and a spiny fish, plus a good sized shark, he was still alive.

Hey, neat shrimp... are these Periclimenes pedersoni? If so, I believe these guys might be cleaners as well. I was looking for nano-sized shrimp that are known as cleaners, and I remember this one coming up.

After having a good look I think it might be a Periclimenes tosaensis.
