So i guess its time for an update.

so i changed 2 of my bulbs today originally i was running:

aqua science reef blue
K Z fiji purple
aqua science 10,000k
aqua science 10,000k
K Z fiji pruple
aqua science 10,000k

Now i changed 2 of the bulbs out and love the color i am getting. less white

K Z fiji purple
K Z new generation (14,000k)
aqua science 10,000k
K Z new generation (14,000k)
K Z fiji pruple
Aqua science reef blue

I also am in the process of changing the salt over to K Z reefers Best and am also using K Z coral vitalizer at night and tomorrrow i am going to start using coral snow.

Also picked up some more coral, mostly sps but i have an amazing acan and a duncan as well.

Pictures coming soon

Rbacchiega 02-14-2009 01:26 AM

I'm setting up a clam tank for this clam. Go back to where that pic came from and BRING ME THAT CLAM!

Oh, on the offhand... the tank looks really good too

Delphinus 02-14-2009 05:34 AM

Where were those dive pictures from, the ones from your Dad?

Where's your trip to, coming up in March?

Awesomeness! :)

lorenz0 02-14-2009 06:06 AM

those pictures were from australia. i really wish i was able to go on that trip but i couldn't afford missing a month of work, let alone i didn't have the time off. The trip we were going to go on is being held off till later. i am saving up for school right now and can't miss time off work and he just started a new job but we are going to be going to honduras. also i might be going to mexico at the end of august so i might do a few dives there.

Rbacchiega 02-14-2009 06:15 AM

let me know where you go if/when you head down to Mexico. I've been all around there and dived (dove?) on both sides. I'll let you know the must see spots that not all the tour guides take you to...

lorenz0 02-14-2009 11:46 AM

I have actually done some dives in cozumel but that was years ago. Did my first wall dive there at 130 feet.... and i didn't have my padi at the time.

but for sure i will let you know where we go, always like a good dive site

lorenz0 02-15-2009 06:47 PM

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e6...IMG_0017-4.jpg

So did a few tests and i guess my Mg and Ca are a bit low and my Alk is a bit on the high side. Instant Ocean strikes again. I knew i should have started with Reefers best just from the start.

Mg - 1200
Ca - 340
Alk - 1080

So i am dosing Ca and Mg and i did another water change today. Going to do another set of tests tonight once everything is settled

Rbacchiega 02-15-2009 07:46 PM

looking good though!

I still use IO, just add Mg and Ca to the salt mix. Kind of a pain, but apparently my brain forgets the trouble when I actually go in to buy another bucket of salt....

lorenz0 02-19-2009 04:32 PM

Some new additions, wicked frag order just came in

purple slimer
aussie tri-color
green birds nest
green and orange stylo
enigma zoa's
shockwave zoa's

Now i just need a camera

lorenz0 02-20-2009 02:26 AM

Some new pictures, more to come

not 100% sure if i wanna keep it. I also want to get rid of 2 colonies of sps i am not happy with

Skimmerking 02-21-2009 03:51 AM

how many bulbs is that T-5 is that going to be enough light for your tank .... looking good

lorenz0 02-21-2009 09:26 AM

it's a 6 bulb TEK on a 18" wide and 16" deep tank. Did some par tests and they are comparable to 2x250watt MH's with just a slight lower reading but not by much.

fishytime 02-21-2009 02:51 PM

Dont listen to the MH die-hards man. Should be more than enough light.

lorenz0 03-06-2009 08:52 PM

As of today i have changed my light schedual from 12-9:30 with all the lights to 12-9:30 with a fiji purple running and a reef blue running. Than my daylight bulbs go on from 2-7.

I'm sure the 2 Tunze 6055s with the multi-controller will do just fine.

karazy 03-07-2009 12:18 AM

looks great!

once those frags grow in you'll barely have any room though :P

digital-audiophile 03-07-2009 01:08 AM

Tunze are for girls! :twised::mrgreen:

sharuq1 03-07-2009 02:08 AM

Where are you finding all these great sps colonies?

no luck with coralline algae, this is actually the first tank i have had barely any grow, probably due to the sps sucking up the calcium

but i love my tunze's, lol. thought about it but with the controller i can get more than enough flow

You could try taking some scrapings from J's tank to see if you can seed yours?

mike31154 03-09-2009 03:26 PM

Small favour, would you mind taking a few close ups of how the Euro-bracing is affixed? Do the end pieces overlap the long ones, or how does that work? Thanks in advance.

lol sadly i always borrow my parents camera for a week. and i don't touch any of jdigitals stuff but next time i do an update with pictures i shall include those

was about to order the vertex zeoVIT reactor only to find out that it does now fit in my sump... starting to think about upgrading my sump now

lorenz0 03-15-2009 11:02 PM

as posted in another thread i have been dosing to raise my parameters and didn't test. end result..

Ca- 460 (elo's)
Alk- 7 (elo's)
Mg- 1290 (safilert)
Ph- 8.1 (elo's)
salinity - 1.023 (refractometer)

Also talking to fishytime today and decided it time for some coral frenzy. See if that helps but also doing bi-weekly 5gal water changes using reefers best salt.

my bi-color blenny has gone MIA. loved that little guy

Anyone have any input on the Neptune Systems AquaController Junior? i have been looking into this for monitoring my ph, temp and using it as a timer for my lights. is its worth it?

lorenz0 03-23-2009 05:03 AM

K so my coral are starting to look alot better but in turn with feeding more it looks like i have a bit or cryo algae starting to come up. meh, easily dealt with.

but i need some advice, fish selection. For the SPS tank i need some reccomendations for fish. as of now i have:

tomato clown
yellow watchman's goby
bi-color blenny
6 line wrasse
yellow tang

i want to add a pair of firefish as well and maybe some chromis but what else would your guys suggest?

looks good!

did you pick anything up at the shop today? there are a few SPS colonies that cought my eye, but I figure I'd better get the tank back up to par before adding more corals etc..

lorenz0 03-23-2009 11:16 PM

thanks :)

i actually picked up a 2 pound ball of live rock. i needed a setting place for one of my sps colonies. now all i have to do is cut all those damn humps off the bottom of them lol. i think everyones hates them. but you should have been there last week when the sps shipment first came in. Wow there was some nice stuff but i told myself only one and ended up picking up a gorgous lime green acro.

today i also picked up a new bulb. took out one of my fiji purples and replaced it with a giesmann pure actinic. So i am going to be running this set up and see how it is for the next month and my next upgrade is replacing the aqua medic reef blue and KZ coral light 10,000k with 2 giesmann actinic + bulbs. doug and i were talking and i am thinking about upgrading my lighting..maybe lol

lorenz0 03-24-2009 11:31 PM

finally borrowed a camera, lol i should invest in one. i am going to do more shots tonight once its dark outside... less natural light
