I can think of a thousand things I'd rather be a master of  .

Your tank looks great. Time sure goes by fast, it seems like it wasn't that long ago you were ready to pack it in because of dinoflagellates

Yeah well we don't get to choose what we're master of

Yeah that really doesn't seem all that long ago. I'm super mad patroller of any bubbles these days. Like almost to the point of fanatical. Its quite sad.

michika 07-07-2008 05:58 AM

Nice changes!

I still love the purple tang.

Been awhile since I posted any updates.

Lookin' Good! Corals look terrific. I especially like the one in pic #4. Did you change your actinics? Your purple Regal is looking more blue.

lastlight 10-05-2008 05:48 AM

Wow is it ever looking sweet in there!

I was thinking the same thing about the tang lol...

christyf5 10-05-2008 06:57 AM

yeah I'm not sure what is up with that, its the same camera and I haven't changed out the actinics. Maybe its time to change out the halides or something

Jason McK 10-05-2008 03:00 PM

Looks Great Christy. You've got some huge colonies, I Love it

Aquattro 10-05-2008 04:17 PM

Just to be clear, Christy's camera sucks and her tank looks even better in person! :)

christyf5 10-05-2008 04:19 PM

Thanks guys!

Snappy 10-05-2008 07:00 PM

Things are looking great Christy.

JDigital 10-05-2008 09:05 PM

Sweet looking tank... I guess you like SPS eh? haha...

christyf5 10-05-2008 09:15 PM

Hehe yeah I guess you could say I like SPS. I used to be SPS with some softies but the chemical warfare made it difficult to be successful as both looked like crapola so I decided to go strictly SPS. Although I've been branching out lately with all the really neat LPS that have been coming in (mostly a matter or being in the right place at the right time). I've got a couple tiny acan frags in there and a couple blastos and stuff. Still mostly SPS though. If I were rich I'd be right in there with the aussie acans thats for sure

OCDP 10-08-2008 04:39 PM

Looks awesome... I really like the stag on the far right.. looks like a tree! (I think it's a stag anyways...) Anyhow, well done !

justinl 10-08-2008 05:02 PM

I miss the big montipora but the tank is still looking fantastic!

christyf5 10-08-2008 05:47 PM

I know, I miss it too  I kept a couple pieces of it and they're coming along. They should be more apparent in the tank by next year or so

wickedfrags 10-08-2008 06:08 PM

Nice looking 90G - love the SPS! Keep on top of the "red stuff" you captured in some of your pics. Should it get to be too much work, well you can use red slime removed in an SPS tank with confidence. Nice tank.

christyf5 10-08-2008 06:59 PM

Thanks for the compliments guys

So far I've just been doing the old turkey baster/water change method, sometimes it works sometimes not. The slime really seems to like a few pieces so those that aren't nailed down have been moved along to somewhere else, so far so good. I've been moving the powerheads around in case its due to *gasp* coral growth! but this stuff is pretty persistent and even when the polyps are waving about the red slime has a pretty good foothold and ain't goin nowhere unless its direct flow.

I'm really hesitant to use the red slime remover at this point. I think I'll just fight the good fight a bit longer as I've had other algaes that were more dastardly than this one, so far I can handle it

Fantastic Christy!!
Looking at pics like those I start to get itchy...

Chowder 10-08-2008 07:13 PM

Christy tank is looking real healthy. You definetly have some nice pieces in there.

Chaloupa 10-08-2008 07:15 PM

Looks good Christy!! I am battling red slime in my LPS and anemone tank.....mine is due to nitrates, yours most likely not...but I am using Tailored Aquatics Nitrate Destroyer on that tank, and am noticing a decline on the red slime (acutally a large noticeable difference quite quickly!)...just an idea.....it also took care of my red slime in my 150g when I was having nitrate issues there...don't know if it would work, but hey, it might!

christyf5 10-08-2008 08:00 PM

Yeah I was using the nitrate destroyer in my tank as well, nitrates were only about 5-10 though so not a major deal but I wanted to get them as low as possible before starting zeo.

wickedfrags 10-08-2008 09:49 PM

Some of the best tanks I have ever seen have battles this issue. When you get tired of battling it, do not fear using the red slim remover. SPS safe is used as noted on the bottle!!!

Don't look at the cyano  I'm working on that!

Lance 10-12-2008 02:44 AM

Ooooooh! Perty!

Keri 10-12-2008 03:47 AM

Beautiful! I love the "kissing sponges" :) I'm happy to know even the pros get cyano sometimes (well, not happy you have it but happy I'm not the only one lol!)

Tank looks great ! That wrasse is a real beauty What kind is it? Does it have any markings on the dorsal fin? Is it invert safe? Any close ups of the purple acro to the left of the wrasse.

Thanks, its a tailspot/melanurus/Hoevens wrasse Haliochoeres melanurus. It does have a spot on the dorsal fin closer to the tail. I wouldn't say it was invert safe but I've never tempted fate as I've seen him go to town on various stomatella snails and any mini brittle star that makes the mistake of having a leg exposed.

Here is an older photo of that purple acro, its been through a rough time and now that its getting bigger I often give it a good whack with the magnet cleaner as its getting too close to the glass, as a result it is growing rather oddly in some places and has quite the odd coloration. I can't get a decent shot because I still can't get anything in between it and the glass to clean the algae off the glass.

That acro is amazing! Thanks for posting the pic.

Looking great Christy. Some really beautiful corals in there. Look forward to following your zeo progress.
