PS I hope no one is expecting to come and see a first class reef tank. As it is, I have but a humble bunch of frags with delusions of grandeur.

fishmaster 04-16-2007 02:15 AM

Well, I'm out. Oh well, it would be impossible to set a date that would work for everyone. Next time...
Shaun.

Scavenger 04-16-2007 02:29 AM

Sorry Shaun,

I'm sorry you can't make it, but I'd rather have you pi$$ed at me than the wife <grin> I'd be happy to gather and hold anything you are looking for until you can get here if you wish.

Ken

whiteice669 04-16-2007 02:37 AM

I'm not at all ****ed, It's just too bad I can't make it. Even though I won't be there, I still appreciate the fact that your giving up your house and weekend.
As for frags, I could phone and see what's left and pick them up monday.
Shaun.

Chaloupa 04-16-2007 04:22 AM

I am in...far as I know....if there is anything for you Shaun, I can bring it back, just let me know!

I'd be more than happy to house any frags that can't be picked up until convenient. I'll just blame crabs if I take a liking to them <grin>

First in line please!!!!!

PoonTang 04-18-2007 02:32 AM

Ill be there too :)

BCWolfen 04-28-2007 08:08 AM

I think I can make it that weekend. As long as we're diving.

Ken: Let me know if you want me to bring anything.

Scavenger 05-18-2007 06:34 PM

Hi all,

Sorry for not being around and following up on this. The last month has been a record sickness month for me. Nasty cold, followed by flu, followed by another nasty cold. Trying to catch up in the "healthy" days didn't leave me much time.

Anyway, I thought I'd throw out an idea here. I was wondering what everyone thought about having a potluck bbq?? Just bring a dish of something, your BBQ meat of choice and your bevies. (not to mention frags)

I reallize some folks will be travelling quite some time so perhaps we could have the more local reefers do the more perishable dishes.

Perhaps to avoid double dishes, post what you are going to bring in this thread.

Thoughts?? Comments?? Anyone bring a BBQ??

SeaHorse_Fanatic 05-20-2007 05:57 AM

May be able to come over from the Mainland, if someone can pick me up from the ferry like last time. If I do come, I can also bring over some stuff if its not too heavy or bulky. Should be able to bring over some frags too.

I have some colt, zoos, trumpet, and a few other things. I also have lots of red halimenia macro, chaeto, & a few extra Red Fromia starfish if anyone is interested.

BTW, Scavenger thanks for organizing these get-togethers. Last one was lots of fun too.

Anthony

PoonTang 05-20-2007 07:20 PM

I'm up for it but its means more work on your part and you better get some definate confirmations on who's coming for sure first. Would be a shame if only 5 people show up and the dinner part turns out to be a bust. Or why dont we all just go out to a resturant together for those who want to? Wish I had more frags to bring but my tank is new so its still pretty bare.

lukep77 05-23-2007 02:22 PM

Hey I was just wondering if out of towners could swing by the meet and maybe purches rather then trade frags? I will be in Victoria on that weekend, and visiting friends in Duncan. My flight would be leaving that sunday night for home.

Who cares how many people show up? A party is a party! We don't have these too often so maybe the "demands" should be kept to a minimum, we're lucky Scavenger is volunteering to do this for us, remember?

Scavenger 05-23-2007 11:52 PM

I wouldn't expect too large of a turn out. There just isn't that many of us on the island. Some of that already limited number will not be able to make it, but it looks like we may pick a stray or 2 from the other side of the pond.

Personally I very much enjoyed hosting the last one. Though we had small numbers, I thought it was fun and a great chance to meet members face to face.

Anthony, pm me if you think you;ll need a ferry terminal pick up. I might be able to arrange something for you. I figure my wife owes you after you brought a non reefing gift for a non reefer. (I still can't get over that thoughtful gesture.)

I'm sure nobody would mind a flatlander coming by.(grin) But don't expect to win the coveted Most Distance Traveled Award since you are already on the island!! (grin again)

Pot luck sounds like a great idea but you'll have to excuse me if I don't bring the potato salad  (hopefully the cooler will be full of ricordea if I can get off my lazy butt and frag some)

If you want, I could set up the paddling pool and proved a mask and snorkel.

BCWolfen 05-25-2007 07:27 AM

Ken,

I think I can make it one weekend without breathing canned air. *sniff*
We'll definately bring some food along, like a couple of salads and some munchies.

Anthony,

Let me know if you need a ride from the ferry. We're just around the corner. No problem picking you up. Catch me on msn.

SeaHorse_Fanatic 05-25-2007 08:01 AM

Thanks BCWolfen. Pm sent back.

Scavenger, you & your wife are very welcome & thanks again for hosting this party.

We should start a new thread so people can sign up that they're coming & maybe what they're bringing (both food & frags). Just a suggestion.

Can't wait to see all of you there.

Anthony

lukep77 05-25-2007 02:10 PM

No worrys there, Scavenge, I will be flying this time so its more like just a jump over the rockys.

If any one needs a ride let me know we will be staying in duncan for that weekend and any one who would need a ride is welcome to pm and let me know, I will have to be back in victoria by 4pm though. Flight leaves at 6ish and the wife needs to check in to her hotel before I take off.

reeferaddict 05-28-2007 08:38 AM

I'm so excited! I actually have that weekend totally free to get to one of these for a change! (Thanks for the heads up Christy!)

Ken - with your permission - I would like to attend with my girlfriend, and if you need, I can bring along my BBQ... let me know if there's anything else you need.

If there are any out-of-towners that need a place to crash for the night, I can put you up... just don't expect a continental breakfast!

castaway 05-28-2007 03:09 PM

I'm in on this
Let me know what I need to bring besides food and frags.

Scavenger 05-28-2007 07:35 PM

Hey all,
Yup a non reefing friend is fine,
Good idea Anthony
Your BBQ would be appreciated Reeferaddict ( I don't completely trust mine)

Not sure how much I'll be on line for the next bit. I'm still playing catch up with the yard work. Though it has given me great entertainment ideas for the frag fest. We could play:

Mow the lawn
Clean the gutters
Weed the flowerbed
Fill the potholes.

Prizes gallore for each game :D

Anyway, as Anthony suggested I'll post another thread for people to discuss what they are bringing ect. See here>>>> http://www.canreef.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=33109

By the way how does a noonish start sound?? I'm easy so we'll see how this fits schedules. Perhaps an earlier start would help out our flatlander friend who has to be in Vic at 4:00

Scavenger 05-28-2007 07:51 PM

OK I'm feeling stupid, I was just kindly informed the 17th is fathers day. I'm still able to do this but thought I should point it out here. I hope it works for all of you. If not, I'm open to suggestions. Early start, put it off a week ect.

reeferaddict 05-28-2007 07:54 PM

My kids are teenage ingrates anyways!

Hahahahaha

marie 05-28-2007 07:59 PM

June 17th works great for me and a noon start is good too. It gives me a little bit of time to pick up my daughter and try to find your place. I don't remember how to get there so your going to have to give me directions again

Scavenger 05-28-2007 08:05 PM

Ya, perhaps we should leave it as is. I"m sure people who planned on coming realized the date issue. I think I'm the only one who can't look at a calander.

We could have an early start for those who have to leave early, do the frag swapping portion early afternoon, (1:00 ish) and do the bbq/food stuff when ever you want type thing.

As for directions, anyone who needs them, pm me your email addy and I'll put together a map. (This also helps me get a head count.)

milesj250 05-29-2007 04:49 AM

is there a place decidded yet for frag fest? if so can someone let me know.

SeaHorse_Fanatic 05-29-2007 04:59 AM

It's at Scavengers. The place was never in doubt. PM him for the address & directions.

Anthony
