What lighting are you running on that thing? for some reason they seem extra bright

Invigor 07-29-2005 03:35 AM

thanks for the compliment!

Sorry it's a little on the blurry side. Started last year in Sept...130 gal, about 26 fish, a bunch of inverts(various), approx 250 lbs of LR, and about 60-70 pieces of coral. The tank is a work in progress and doesn't show well in a picture taken from far enough away to get a full width shot.
Picture is about 6 weeks old so there have been a few changes since then.

Funky_Fish14 07-30-2005 10:33 PM

Well, here is my happy new tank.........sorry, the color in the pic is really bad lol, its just a very white 400W 10K XM with black background.

Some better pics will be in the thread im starting.

ooh... I see your saving a lot of SPS frags for when I come down next Deb..

mr_alberta 08-04-2005 02:46 PM

What type of Butterfly fish are those in the picture with your Moorish Idol? No problems with them nipping at your clam or SPS?

There is a pakistani, a blackback and a red sea. Yes, they keep the polyps closed up on most types of sps, but fortunately don't bother clams at all. I would say the red sea is the best behaved, I don't believe I've ever seen her pick at anything.

(haha Muck....)

The pic looks dark but actually it's quite bright in there. We don't even need to turn on other lights in the room.

Looks like you did some re-arranging in you big tank, heh Deb? looks better. Here's a picture of my 75g softie tank from 6-7years ago. I though I lost it. This is back in the days when digital camera wasn't so prolific, this was taken with a 35mm.

Here is a full shot of my new tank. It's a 65 gallon with 118 gallon sump. I took all the stuff out of my 33 so I still have a lot of space to fill. Sorry it's cloudy it was just set up today. http://www.canreef.com/photopost/dat...es_186-med.jpg

Beverly 08-07-2005 01:35 PM

Like the rock layout  Am wondering if you get circulation behind the rock, though.

Also wondering why you didn't do a 118g tank with a 76g sump?

scotchy 08-07-2005 10:20 PM

Thanks Beverly. Actually I am getting no circulation behind the rock yet but there are 2 powerheads that have to go in the tank still and I think I will also work in some form of closed loop yet. I have some overflow issues to work out yet so it's all still in the works. As for why not a bigger tank? I wanted to keep my reef tank small and I plan on hooking a fish only tank up to the same sump. That'll be when the big tank will come.

Scott

Invigor 08-07-2005 11:39 PM

the sump isn't all that...applicable to be a display tank either

still a work in progress
gotta find more things to fill the top parts of the tank. any suggestions?

OCDP 08-11-2005 08:43 PM

Just a thought... maybe add some more live rock? It will fill it up some and give you more height, depending on how you aquascape it!

JMO!

Still , it's looking nice so far

robzilla 08-11-2005 08:48 PM

how much weight can the bottom of tank take?
i'd like to add more rock but i'm concerned about some much weight in such a small footprint

Beverly 08-11-2005 09:40 PM

If that's an Oceanic tank, you can probably put in 40 lbs of rock. But with that much rock, you won't have much room for corals to grow, unless the rock you get is really dense and heavy.

Here's a pic of my 42g hex before I upgraded last year:
