To avoid being banned due to an inactive Tank Jounal ...
My current Sony is out of commision, so here are some crappy Cell pics http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/x...psbzqdolpx.jpg http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/x...psbzqdolpx.jpg http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/x...psed2g43s3.jpg http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/x...psed2g43s3.jpg http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/x...pslcirbawr.jpg http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/x...pslcirbawr.jpg http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/x...psffaco2qd.jpg http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/x...psffaco2qd.jpg http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/x...psu3mqxxhs.jpg http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/x...psu3mqxxhs.jpg |

Not a tank update, but rather a tank keeper update ... I'm currently suffering an upper back disc herniation. Last time this happened was 2009 and it laid me out for 4 months. Looks like I'll be having my wife help me with all lifting. I can't do anything above the belt without aggrivating the injury. I've worked with a broken hand, broken finger, sprained ankle totally bruised on both sides and no ability to walk, sprained lower back, sciatic problems out the ying yang ... But this is taking me out of the game. For those of you who are unaware of this pain ... It is a knife in the middle of your spine between your shoulder blades, and worsens when you try to keep your head erect. The pain shoots down the right arm and renders it useless from shoulder to finger tips. Sometimes it's tingling, but mostly it's throbbing and on fire. I was in emergency on a gurney on morphine before the pain was managed. Then, as stated above, 4 months of pills and bedrest. So, I'll be away from the PC for awhile as it hurts to use the desktop. Later all .... |
Hopefully it gets better quicker then last time.
I had a herniated disk in my lower back and spent many an hours in the emergency room not being able to move. Know exactly what you are experiencing. I have never had a knife in my back but I am guessing the pain is about the same. I had microdiscectomy on my lower back 4 years ago. Backs not perfect but the extreme pain is gone and I can somewhat function again. Let me know if you need anything |
I hope you feel better soon man! I have a herniated disc in my neck, a year and a half ago it got really bad; sharp pain in my neck and shoulder with tingling and numbness into my fingers. I basically couldn't move period for 3 weeks which is awesome when you are self employed!
I definitely know what you are going through and wouldn't wish it on anyone. I feel like your thread may turn to turn in to a back pain support group :) |
remember selling me that kole tang like 4 years ago? its still loving life

I like your GSP, gonna steal your idea🙂. I’ve done a few GSP pebbles which are pretty cute. I should try a flat piece like yours, I think it looks like a river.
|
Thanks Maggie
You should see it at floor level - makes the front of the tank look as a grass field. Once it outgrew the LR rubble it was on, I let it grow on the sandbed and then shaped it from there. It's now just loose on the sand. |
Realy nice growth Greg. ‘Can’t wait to see some Fancy sticks in your tank? Right Rich (Bblinks)

Looks great man!
I'm a sps guy but really digging the colony of nems and the gsp! |
Thanks guys. I need to keep some movement in the tank to appease my wife - she likes the SPS colors but not the boredom.
I had Gord over last Tuesday and after a discussion I counted my 'nems. I wish I hadn't. I now have 13 and will need to deal with them soon ... So, update. I bought some new wet/fake rock from J&L http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/x...pschsvomn3.jpg http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/x...pschsvomn3.jpg I plan on replacing this structure in a month or so, and selling it with all the encrusted bits, minus what I want to keep http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/x...pstufycwni.jpg http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/x...pstufycwni.jpg |
Wow, I wish my sand was that clean! That water too. Great clarity.

And that's with no carbon or gfo, and no sand cleaning. I balanced my PO4 with the addition of liquid nitrogen from Seachem and haven't had to add any since Jan '17. At that time I pulled my reactors out of the sump. I literally use/dose nothing to remove PO4 anymore. |
Wow really nice!

Since I was talking about it, I thought I'd test tonight as I haven't checked these since the middle of May; PO4 0.021 NO3 0.00 I ran a bag of carbon this week for 5 days for the first time since I don't know when - not this year anyway and can't be bothered to look through my journal. My water looked a bit yellow-ish in a white bucket, yet it's still clear looking through the tank. It's clear/blue-ish in a bucket again. Good for another year ... And ya, I ran a bag as I can't be bothered to hook up a pump to a reactor  I don't even know why I'm keeping the parts! And my yellow tang made a full recovery from his HLLE once the carbon was removed. I can hardly see the scars now. On that, back a few years ago while trying to heal my yellow tang, I tried adding Brightwell Vitamin, Minor & Trace Element stuff ... all it did was fuel algae growth. Removing my carbon reactor was the best thing I ever did. I'm not saying it's for everyone. I don't have much coral warfare going on so I just don't need it. Sorry, no pics today |
