Never mind...I totally forgot you are getting a few buckets of salt and aragonite as well. Then for sure the savings from not shipping would be a bundle?

I just mentioned the gas chip in, as a hint, hint, everyone should chip in regardless and not take advantage of someone’s kind heart. Or maybe that’s just me. But it is something to consider since gas does cost money and is a long trip for you, although I know you do want to take the trip. Sorry don’t want to damper on anyone plans. Consideration comes first.

So I'm tagging along still...

mr_alberta 10-03-2004 05:07 PM

Hi,

So what is the official pick up date?

BlkWolfe 10-03-2004 09:15 PM

Looking like pickup from J&L the morning of the 29th or 30th, dropoff in calgary that night, then unloading in edmonton the following day

nobody seems to have a preference for a friday or saturday pickup in calgary, or a sat or sunday pickup in edmonton

so...if anybody does let me know otherwise we'll just be deciding a few days before

BlkWolfe 10-03-2004 09:17 PM

And we are now adding Frozen PE Mysis to the order to be picked up in calgary during our layover

infor can be found here under RossB's posting ...http://www.canreef.com/phpBB2/viewto...r=asc&start=15

so anyone that wants mysis, contact ross with what you want, then let me know in this thread. ill pay him at pickup, and then you owe me

jess128 10-04-2004 12:57 AM

So pick up in edmonton on the 31st? Is there a preferred time of day?

BlkWolfe 10-04-2004 02:14 AM

most likely ill be back in edmonton by noon or 1pm. Once we arrive ill be unloading my portion and catching up on tank maintenance i passed off while we were gone

so, anytime from 1pm that afternoon til midnight would be fine for me. well, most nights im up til 4am so pretty much anytime :)

BlkWolfe 10-04-2004 08:25 AM

If anybody has a J&L box leftover from a previous rock order...could i please get outer dimensions of length/width/height, an exact measurment would be great

Would like to get started on the rock box for the truck this coming weekend

jess128 10-05-2004 12:49 AM

Do you just want J&L boxes, or would some rubbermaids do the trick as well? If you want some rubbermaids let me know and I can bring some over to your place.

BlkWolfe 10-05-2004 04:09 AM

after a little discussion with the guys at J&L, they said just to worry about keeping it moist (which is why they throw in the moist towels on top). can always throw in a little extra water in the boxes if somebody wants

im going to make up an insulated casing for say...8 or 9 of their rock boxes. throw it in the bed then throw the boxes in the casing. J&L can put heat packs in with the rock, and then we can use either a 12v car warmer or a bunch of my heat packs surrounding the rock boxes. air the casing out every stop or two to keep the oxygen levels up for the packs. should keep everything warm

needed the dimensions on the rock boxes J&L ships with so i know how big to make the inner dimensions of the casing. wont be anything fancy, just ply outside and insulation inside

Just be using their standard shipping boxes for this, so wont be needing the rubbermaids for this trip

BlkWolfe 10-05-2004 10:16 PM

K heres the list i got from J&L

Edmonton:
Josh - 2 x 160g IO, 8 bags sugar size aragamax, 160lbs figi
Jessica - 60lbs figi
Harvey Wong - 65lbs figi, 2x 160g IO CHECKED
Chris Greggors - 2 x Sediment Filters
Paul Switzeny - 1 x 160g IO, 10lbs figi, maxi jet 600
John Chan - Corlife gloves, 2 x 160g IO, 3 x 12" optimal reflectors

Calgary:
Bob Ipema - 1 x 200g kent salt CHECKED
Deb Hadford - 65lbs figi, 2 x 200g kent salt, 1 x aragamax select CHECKED
Ed Miller - 25lbs figi, 2 x 200g kent salt CHECKED

This is the list that J&L currently has, so if somethings wrong or missing you need to contact them and then contact me. and i apologize if i spelt anyones name wrong

also if i got somebodies location wrong, ie your in edmonton and i got you on the calgary list, just point in our in your respective forum so i can fix up my list.

and finally, can i please get a pm from everybody thats in, with your contact info, name, number, screen name on here if its different than your name etc. and PM it to me

we're one box short of hitting our 3.99lb. and ive got room for 2 more boxes in the truck

BlkWolfe 10-08-2004 05:57 AM

Come on guys, gotta be able to get one more box together

bulletsworld 10-08-2004 05:59 AM

How much more do you need? Just a 65lbs box?

BlkWolfe 10-08-2004 06:22 AM

65lbs will get us up to just starting the 8th box

jess128 10-08-2004 03:46 PM

What price are we sitting at now per pound?

mr_alberta 10-08-2004 03:47 PM

Well, if we are 1 box short of $3.99/lb, it would be $4.09/lb.

EmilyB 10-08-2004 07:40 PM

I ordered the last box required in the Calgary forum did I not ? If that is still not pushing us over, I won't bother then. Please let me know.

jess128 10-09-2004 06:01 AM

I think that box you bought brought up down to $4.09 from $4.19. Any chance of us getting down to $3.99?

BlkWolfe 10-09-2004 08:04 AM

ill be calling jeff tomorrow to get our total weight on the rock

by my last count, we should be right at the 3.99 thanks to emilyb's addition

took delivery of the new truck today, crew cab is a pretty decent size. all the rock will be able to fit in the back seat so no ****ing around with a box in the bed. Heat int he cab will keep everything warm for the trip

it also leaves the entire bed free, so anyone else that wants sand and salt, or wants to add to existing orders, we're still good for some more

nice when things start to come together

jess128 10-09-2004 08:10 PM

So will the rock be kept in some water, or just dry but warm?

EmilyB 10-09-2004 08:24 PM

The rock doesn't need to be kept in water, just moist.

I spoke with Jeff myself and he says you have met your quota. In fact, was over with my second box, so I'm just taking what it needs to make the mark.

BlkWolfe 10-10-2004 06:31 AM

Thank you EmilyB

and thanks to everybody that came in. we maxed out the order and are going to be filling the cab quite completely with LR for the trip back

we're still open for more salt/sand and big/heavy drygoods thatll fit in the bed. so if itll fit it can come back

Josh

mr_alberta 10-10-2004 03:59 PM

Hi,

I added a few small things to my order:

1xbulkhead
1xstrainer
1xMag face plate
+ my original order from before of:
65lbs Fiji
2x160G IO salt

Thanks

BlkWolfe 10-11-2004 06:33 AM

hey harvey

was going to reply earlier today but i didnt have time

id prefer to just keep this shipment with the heavy and large items that are expensive to ship. anything that could be included during a "free shipping over $200" order wasnt meant to be included with this one

anything else your including is 99% likely its going to end up in the bed with the salt pails. and they're too short to tie up satisfactorily. if i happen to run into the seemingly ample supply of less than stellar drivers and have to break/swerve the pails could shift or have the bottoms slide out from under the straps and provide you with more pieces than your order started out with

regardless ill be tying up everything as well as possible. if your still up for it coming back in the bed, then by all means

just giving you warning

Josh

BlkWolfe 10-12-2004 11:45 PM

Just got off with J&L

I dont know who over there is doing their math. we're sitting at 400lbs even, which means we're still at 4.09. Dont know who the he...ck would say we hit 3.99. then again i missed it too....

and to top it off they want the 8th box full before they'll drop it. which means we're approx 120lbs short

im going to throw something up on the vancouver forum, see if somebody just wants to grab a couple discounted boxes from the back of the truck when we get done with J&L, hell ill even deliver around Burnaby

sorry about this everybody, looks like we're not done yet

Quinn 10-12-2004 11:48 PM

Ten cents on 120 lbs... why not just eat the $12.

These group orders tend to collapse under their own weight eventually... I would seal the deal.

BlkWolfe 10-12-2004 11:53 PM

see what the rest of the group has to say about it...

irritating they wont budge on it...but what you gonna do

ill go either way on it

Quinn 10-13-2004 12:06 AM

Spread across the dozen or so people involved, it's a pretty minuscule inconvenience.

mr_alberta 10-13-2004 12:19 AM

I'm still in either way as well.

BlkWolfe 10-14-2004 05:43 AM

K i havent heard anybody objecting to the extra 10 cents a pound...

for pickups...ill be stopping in calgary the night of saturday october 30th to unload that portion of the order. Depending on time i may just continue on and return in the wee hours sunday morning. So anybody in edmonton can come and pickup their orders either between 2am-5am (if anybody else is a nightowl like me) or after Noon on sunday

Everything is still going ahead

and...i need Keith (Fishsticks?) to contact me please. Need to hear from you before i leave otherwise its staying on the dock

jess128 10-15-2004 03:33 AM

what's the latest we can pickup in edmonton?

BlkWolfe 10-15-2004 05:57 AM

If we make it back to edmonton saturday night, then anytime up until 5am

on sunday...anytime between noon and 4am sunday night/monday morning

btw, we had another addition from a reefer in calgary. We're at 3.99...again

this time we made it

BlkWolfe 10-16-2004 04:57 AM

We're now maxed for Salt and live rock. Thank you to everybody for contributing to the order

Ill be calling and getting the final list from J&L tomorrow. So whatever you have now is what will be coming back. No new additions or changes would be greatly appreciated

See everybody in 2 weeks

mr_alberta 10-16-2004 05:10 AM

Are you still picking up the Mysis from Ross in Calgary?

BlkWolfe 10-16-2004 06:01 AM

yep

BlkWolfe 10-21-2004 12:04 AM

Ok, heres the final list for edmonton...

Edmonton:
Josh - 2 x 160g IO, 120lbs figi
Jessica - 60lbs figi
Harvey Wong - 65lbs figi, 2x 160g IO, 2" Strainer, 2" bulkhead, mag 5 cover
Chris Greggors - 2 x Sediment Filter
Paul Switzeny - 1 x 160g IO, 10lbs figi, 2 x maxi jet 400
John Chan - Corlife gloves, 2 x 160g IO, 3 x 12" optimal reflectors
Keith Stacks - 2 x 200g kent salt

This is the list i have directly from J&L. once again, any discrepancies or problems, call me or pm me and ill make the changes

J&L also contacted me this morning. There seems to be a snafu with their primary figi supplier, and getting permission to bring the rock in. If their primary source cannot come through, Jeff has assured me they have a secondary supplier that can have the rock for our order in its entirity at J&L on November 1st, a monday.

Now this brings up a question for pickups. however, this may be more dependant on the calgary orders since we wont be arriving there until a late hour, and i dont want people running around with rock late at night when they gotta be up at work or with kids at 6am.

Everybody involved for the Edmonton pickups, is there anybody with a problem moving the trip back by 1 week, and me coming back in on a sat/sun instead of monday/tuesday. Meaning pickups in edmonton will now be either 2am-5am or noon to midnight on sunday, November 7th.

fortheloveofcrabs 10-21-2004 06:12 PM

Thanks so much fro doing this. You rock!

Any-hoo, go when you can, get back when you will. You are doing me a HUGE favor, so I am not so picky about the time!

-Pauly

mr_alberta 10-21-2004 06:33 PM

Sure. 7th works fine for me too.

jess128 10-21-2004 10:16 PM

I dont have a problem moving it back a week, I'm jsut glad I've finally got some rock and I don't really care when it comes in! Although sooner would be better.... I can wait.

BlkWolfe 10-22-2004 10:39 PM

Ok...here it goes...

The order and pickup dates are now final

The original supplier has come through, so the rock will be arriving at J&L on the 29th, we will be picking it up the morning of saturday oct 30th

Calgary pickups will be outta BMWRiders garage after approx 8-9pm on Oct 30th.

Edmonton Pickups will be at my place anytime after Noon on sunday October 31st

Please contact your respective pickup points for address and directions :)

For anyone picking up rock, you will need to bring your own containers with you for taking it home.

We are also going to need either a home weight scale or anything else for weighing out everybodies order, at both the Edmonton & Calgary drops, since all the rock is coming back with about 100-120lbs per container.

any questions, as always, call me at 780-953-5311

see everybody in a week

mr_alberta 10-25-2004 05:08 PM

Hey everyone,

I will be Josh's Edmonton contact while he is gone. I'll keep you all updated if there are any changes in plans. If you have ordered something from him, please PM me and I will PM you back with his home address.

Thanks,
-Harvey
