How does November 28 sound to all of you? Only hope the weather is good for boB to make it up with his zoos.

Well the car is heated, so the zoos won't be the problem. I am concerned about possible road conditions that time of year.

And Jim, I am not sure if I can fake being ill so STARS could take me to Beverly's place. Especially with a big box of zoos that need to be kept warm. :BIG:

Beverly 09-19-2004 10:24 PM

boB,

The weather in both Oct and Nov in this part of the country can lousy, so there is no way to predict which Sunday will have good road conditions. I'm just hoping for the best for that day

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think Al flies a military chopper? Geez, can I go for a ride

Anyway, who can make it for Sunday, November 28, 2:30 to 5:30? Everyone can bring husbands, wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, so please let me know if you are bringing someone. I need a body count so I can talk to the caterer across the hall to see what he can whip up for us

Bob I 09-19-2004 11:54 PM

I am in for Nov. 28th unless the weather puts the kibosh to that.

Al told me he flies for STARS, and also flies military birds.

Richer 09-20-2004 12:02 AM

Got a winter formal on the 26th, my girlfriend's bday party on the 27th, then this on the 28th. Sounds like a busy weekend... count me in!

95% sure that I'll be coming alone. Do you want any of us to bring anything? drinks? snacks?

-Richer

jess128 09-20-2004 01:00 AM

I'll be able to make it on the 28th. I probably won't get there until 4ish though, I do volunteer work on sundays at whitemud equine centre. And yes, I will most likely be coming alone; all my friends think I'm such a loser for being into reefs

kuatto 09-20-2004 02:15 AM

Put me and Karen down for the 28th as well

Nemain 09-20-2004 02:20 AM

I can definately make it =) Let me know if you need me to bring anything =)

Beth

sleeman 09-20-2004 02:58 AM

The 28th works for me. I will probably be alone as our next addition to the family is due Oct 20. If this one is a girl I got a hat trick
Anyways, If bob wants me to fly him up from calgary he will have to hit his head hard enough that we need to paralyze him and stick a tube down his throat  Driving willl be better. Just drive safe.

Bob,
I plan on making the plugs this weekend, and will still bring them down to Calgary with me on the 8th of Nov. I would like to see the tanks again.

Cheers,

AL

Big changes in the tanks. I now have a 30"X20"X20", and a 24"X18"X18". Both lit by MH pendants. And would you believe I only have two rectangular, and two "pizzas" left

Beverly 09-20-2004 12:52 PM

Here's the body count so far:

boB (weather permitting)
Richer
Jess
Al
Beth
Jim and Karen

That's a good start. Who else can make for Sunday, November 28, 2:30 to 5:30?

For those asking if they need to bring anything, thank you for the offer, but please just bring yourselves and guests

muck 09-20-2004 02:36 PM

I would love to come but Sundays don't work to great for me...
I'll have to pass this time, but might catch you all at the next one.

shotzee 09-20-2004 03:07 PM

You can probably count me in to make a solo appearance.

Rory

Beverly 09-20-2004 03:17 PM

Good, more people

I may have throw a spanner into the works as the English say. I am becoming seriously worried about the lateness of the meeting, and the demands placed on my stock. I am now wondering if I could come up to Edmonton well before the scheduled meeting to drop off the zoos
There would have to be someone who would be willing to hold the zoos so that other Edmontonians could pick them up at their leisure. Or find some other work around.

Quinn 09-20-2004 05:07 PM

What's the possibility of me and Bob going on a bit of a tank crawl around Thanksgiving. Or is that too early for you Bob?

Skimmerking 09-20-2004 05:23 PM

It may be a go for me as well there Bev.

If ya dont mind a flatlander showing up..

michael

fortheloveofcrabs 09-20-2004 05:25 PM

I'll be there!

Beverly 09-20-2004 09:50 PM

boB,

We won't be around on Thanksgiving weekend  I'm sure there are folks who would like to participate in a tank crawl, though

Maybe start a new thread for the Thanksgiving tank crawl and zoo/$$ exchange and keep this thread for the Nov 28 get together?

Beverly 09-21-2004 12:57 AM

I hear Beth is going to Calgary. Sounds like she wouldn't mind picking up some zoo frags for folks:

Anybody else interested in coming to the November 28 meeting?

mr_alberta 09-23-2004 03:25 PM

Hi Bev,

My girlfriend and I may show up and we may bring a couple of friends along too! I'm not 100% sure we are coming yet though. Its still too far ahead for me to confirm anything.

Same here. My BF & I may be able to come but too far ahead for me to confirm anything too and I guess since I live so close to you Bev I can just walk over.

Yeah, it's like over two months away, so I understand your position. I'll bring up the subject again late in October so folks can decide then. With the meeting being so late in November, we'll probably have our Christmas tree up by then and have some Christmas cake on hand

Also, parking is at a premium downtown, so bring all your friends in one car so you can find a parking space

Leeanne, Hope to see you and your boyfriend. Hope he isn't too bored with all us reef folks

Now you have me worried. I am expected tp try and find a parking space possibly blocks away, and then try to lug a big box of zoos to your place, which I have never been to. Maybe now while it is still a long time awy, we could find me a place to go to, and park there, and hitch a ride  . Preferably close to where I enter the city.

Richer 09-24-2004 01:26 AM

I'd be happy to give you a ride... and you could park on the sidewalk near my house (there's a huge stretch of fence and its a safe neighbourhood). Its a 10 minute drive from Gateway blvd to my house and the route is quite direct... so you won't even spend that much time driving around a different city... though going to Bev's place from my place takes about 30 minutes.

Hey Bev,
I'm still trying to convince my BF to be one of us by starting up a lil 10 gal tank. He likes to nemo. Just like the kids in the pet stores, "O.h LOOK MOM! NEMO! NEMO!

Gotta drag em in somehow! So I'm working on it.

bulletsworld 09-24-2004 03:21 AM

Hey Bob,

I have idea's for ya.... Since I live like only a couple (4) blocks away from Bev. There is lots of parking at my place! You could park here & I can drive you over to Bev's place. That way your not very far from your car for when you leave and I could always drive you back.

Or I could meet you coming @ like IKEA, just coming into the city & you could leave your car in the parking lot & I could drive to Bev's, drop you off right infront of her door courtesy of Lee Taxi.

Just giving some options.

Beverly 09-24-2004 03:31 AM

boB,

There are a few parking spaces behind the building for guests, maybe 6-8 spaces, if they aren't already occupied. Maybe come a bit early to guarantee a space back there.

Bob I 09-24-2004 04:44 PM

I appreciate all the options. , we will see what happens when the time is a little closer.

PrairieReefer 09-26-2004 03:46 AM

I hope I can make it for this one. However it will depend on if I have to be travelling the other direction that day to pick up my daughter. I'll have to let you know as the time gets closer.

IrishReefer 09-27-2004 02:19 AM

Hi Beverly,

If this option is still open we would love to come - That would be me -Brian, Sue my wife and Kieran our dwarf (He is 5yo). If thats ok let me know - unfortumately I doubt I will have any goodies to bring to the party but if there is anything else needed let me know - Also if anyome needs a ride from Stony or Spruce please give me a shout.

Brian :drinking:

Pisces 09-27-2004 06:32 PM

I think I can make it in November, but as with everyone else I'll have to confirm closer to the date.

That is, if there's still room!

Anyone who is on this board and who has an interest in meeting other reefkeepers is most welcome to come to the open house

However, you cannot bring your Uncle George who doesn't know what a reef is, or all the people on the third storey of your apartment building

Arty Morty 10-01-2004 03:37 PM

Go

I would like to make it, but the 28th being my birthday and all, I may be Forced to spend most of the day with non-reefers!!

Beverly 10-25-2004 09:52 PM

Okay, this thread has been dead long enough

Have arranged for the caterer to bring us a variety of yummy sandwiches, some shortbread cookies and Christmas fruitcake for the Sunday, Novemeber 28, 2:30 to 5:30 meeting. We'll also have Mandarin oranges and wet stuff to drink. Ooooooh, I'm very excited about hosting this get together. It being rather close to Christmas there will be at least one of our trees out and decorated

Have had folks PM me asking if there will be frag trading and I don't see why not. boB may be coming in from Calgary with zoo frags for a few people. Anyone else who has frags (or anything else) to trade are more than welcome to let us know what you have. Traders, please bring your own bags/containers for frags, etc. on the meeting day.

So, everyone, let the body counting begin again

Richer 10-25-2004 11:05 PM

Unless something unforseen comes up, once again you can count me in
