Are the tanks on the back wall just mixing and RO/DI holding tanks?

Looking really good! Lucky to have this kind of a start so early in the hobby.

Yes the one on the left is the top off with a float switch that runs to my RODI in another room, and the one on the right is my salt water mixing tank. they are both gravity fed so when i do a water change i just pump water out then open the valve and the tank fills it self back up.

Fish and Coral transferred

So i transfered all my fish and some of my coral to the new tank. They are all doing well and eating, on top of transferring fish i also went and picked up 2 back and white clowns at Golds. I put them in with my old clowns and everyone is still Happy:biggrin:. I also ordered my tangs but i think i want a Blonde Naso Tang in stead of a normal Naso Tang. O i also ordered my Royal Gramma. And i chose a Purple Tang over the Sailfin.

Thanks Hayden

P.S i will post some pictures later as I have hockey and wont be able to take the pictures and post them before I have to leave.

FishingGoalie 03-04-2014 02:55 AM

Fish, Fish, and more fish
My clownfish normal and Black and White are all happy as well as my Purple Firefish Chromis and hogfish.

My Hogfish have i think started mating as they swim touching eachother and one will spin doing 360s around the other one as he also goes around the other one. They sleep side by side(very cute:smile:). Will they lay eggs? i cant seem to find anything online about it.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...pscgvuek3r.jpg

And yes no fighting is going on but seems as the two bigger clowns have paired up and the two small ones have paired up. maybe the 2 small ones were to immature for the bigger ones.

Thanks
HAyden

Thank you I have been putting tonnes of effort in to make it the best it can be.

FishingGoalie 03-10-2014 01:16 AM

So I went and picked some more fish. A yellow tang a regal tang and a royal gramma. My yellow tang isn't eating the nori I feed him though I am using a elastic to elastic it to a rock where he normally picks off the rock but he won't even look at it. Does anyone have any ideas? For the rest of the fish I'm still waiting for a purple tang a naso tang a blue throat trigger a flame angel a law mower Bennie a leopard wrasse. Maybe a few more I'm probably missing some.
I will post some more pictures soon

Did you quarantine your new fish? And if so, how was the YT eating before you put him into the display tank?

gregzz4 03-10-2014 01:32 AM

Lovin' your build
I'm still following along, regardless of what has happened in other threads :boink:
I think peeps got out of control and hope you didn't take it too personally
Thoughts/feelings are hard to decifer in a forum when all you see are words

So, what steps are you taking while you're adding all these new fish to your 'new' system ?
I hope you're using some kind of bacterial boost stuff to help you over ammonia humps/get you through cycles
I'm thinking something such as Seachem Stability, although there are others out there that I haven't used

From what I can decifer, it looks like you're not quarantining your critters, or are you ?

As for your tang not eating the Nori, have you tried a clip on the glass, such as a Veggie Mag ?
If 'any' of your other fish will eat from it, I'd almost guarantee your tang will be right in there like a fat kid on a smartie

Another thing to try is to soak some Nori in a dish with some tank water, then drop in small pieces and see if the tang goes after them, or sees other fish do so

Good luck dude !

I am using prodibio products for the ammonia . No I'm not quarantining but I left it at the fish store for 2 weeks to make sure all fish were healthy and eating well. No I have not tried using a veggie clip but I will try the dropping nori in in small pieces. Thanks for the advice.

Oh, OK,... but tangs don't always start eating nori right away. But he should once he gets comfortable, and is more hungry.

Re quarantine. You should consider that. Otherwise you are playing Russian Roulette with your fish, and sooner or later you will have an ich outbreak and lose a bunch of fish. You can learn the lesson the hard way,... or try to do it properly from the start.

Depends on size of fish. Should be OK for most new fish in the 2 or 3 inch size.

A little update on my tank.

Currently i have been in Grand Cayman i get back on sunday and i hope to add some more fish. I just don't know which ones to add next.

Here is currently what i have in my tank

2 normal clownfish
2 black and white clownfish
2 candy hogfish
3 blue green chromis
Purple firefish
Yellow tang
Regal tang
Royal Gramma
Carpenters flasher wrasse
target mandarin

Here is what i am still wanting to get. I had to get the yellow tang because my hogfish were picking on my wrasse and he wouldn't come out.

Purple tang
Naso Tang
Blue Throated Trigger
Flame Angel
Anthias not sure how many probably 3-5
Copperband Butterfly
Longnose HAwkfish
Lawnmower Blennie
Mystery wrasse
3 more chromis
and maybe 2 Bangai Cardinals as there is someone on can reef selling babies :)

These are the fish i still want to get i just don't know which ones to get next i hope to get 5 or 6 more i will be quarantining most of them depending on where i get them from. I have a 20 gallon for quarantine and I'm worried its not big enough. Any input on this will help

That's a pretty big list for a 150 30 fish, totally do-able but maybe sort through the ones you really want so the cooler ones arnt overshadowed

Ya i was thinking the same thing in my mind i kind of know the ones that i don't want that bad.

Craigdillman 04-05-2014 09:08 PM

I had the same thing when i first stocked my 125 i had like 19 fish and there was a lot i was just buying everything, then i got ich and now after that whole ordeal and QT and Hypo I'm down to the 4 that made it.

Got my QT all set up(learned my lesson) and i was like ok maybe this time around ill only pick the awesome fish that i want and go for more of a Quality over quantity

Just my 2 cents

Craigdillman 04-05-2014 09:09 PM

Also how do your 4 clowns get along i was thinking of maybe doing that
