Head is definitely better then the first gen dc pumps out there and pretty much the same as the new rlss ones that are coming. It would be nice if someone would get a larger dc pump with high head made for folks with the 2nd floor tanks. When i was playing with it i gave it about 9ft of head and it was still coming out pretty good. Have it running on my tank now and it is quite a performer and same sound as the dc5000 it replaced (little to none).

I have had a dc12000 running for a bit now and my impressions are the following:

pros:

-very powerful
-1.5" in and out allows for hooking up proper sized plumbing and not losing head by reducing right out of the gate.
-soft start ramps up after power loss or when coming back from feed mode.
-feed mode @ 10min
-control chip in controller (not the pump) which will allow for modding pump to be controlled by reef angel/apex/ect..
-value for the cost is great.

cons:

there is a hum which was mostly eliminated when i unattached return to aquarium from the wall it was vibrating against. But is louder then the RLSS dc5000 it replaced (not sure how it would compare to other pumps of similar size as i have always ran a dc5000). But there is definitely a hum that i am ok with but may not be ok for someone with a dead silent system.

I have had a few requests for a picture of the control box open so people can figure out how to mod for full control. So here it is:

Panworld has actually been manufacturing DC pumps for some time now. The problem is there's no Canadian distributor as far as I know. Perhaps an astute sponsor as yourself might get in contact with them & see what could be done in that regard. For folks with high head applications the NH-40PX-D or NH-50PX-D-Z might do the job. Links to performance charts from the Panworld Americas site follow below. They also make some nice smaller DC pumps, so all the bases are covered, so to speak. Panworld AC pumps already have a solid reputation with most salt water hobbyists that use them. The founder of the company was a former engineer with Iwaki, so the quality & support is definitely there.

Note that the performance charts are in gallons/liters per minute so you need to multiply by 60 to get GPH/LPH.

If I'm doing the math right on the Panworld...the flow seems almost nonexistent. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I got the 9000 series version of the Jebao DC pump and it does very well. There is a hum that I'm hoping will diminish after a handful of days in use like it does in many other pumps. Overall build quality seems quite good. If they made a 20000 I would buy it in a heartbeat.
