I did h202 daily for about 2 weeks while it cycled. Now I use it once a week to keep it crystal clear, or after heavy rains.

Thanks, will see if I can find some of that. I don't have pea soup yet, but that is what I am worried about.

Thanks for the tip Dez! My pond has started to go a little green from all this rain too. I also noticed that my UV has gone kaput so I need to get a new bulb installed this weekend. I'll also be hunting down some peroxide as per your suggestion. I've never used that stuff, ever.

My concern, of course, is that the algae will turn to pea soup, and begin to die, killing my fish due to lack of O2. But Roger is telling me not to worry, and it should be OK for a couple weeks. Luckily, the weather has been mostly cloudy and cool recently, but it is supposed to get nice again next week. Sure hope he is right.

Don't know what else I can do in the meantime. I don't think trying to cover it with a tarp is a good idea... Fish seem to be OK, for now.

Well, my new UV bulb lasted one day before it also burned out. Seems like the power supply/transformer head is faulty. Both bulbs burned out with blackened ends, so something is not right. I have ordered a new power head unit (still cheaper than buying a new filter with bulb), and will have to wait another week or so for it to arrive.

Meanwhile my pond is still green, although a little less the last couple days. I still don't see my fish, as they seem to be hiding on the bottom. I have not used anything to get rid of the algae, since my pond guy insists the algae is not harmful to the fish. I sure hope he is right.

This is what the RapiClear by crystal clear did for me. My pond is the one on the right.

RapiClear,.... OK, will look for that, too. Thanks. My pond was totally clear before the UV light quit, so I think it is just algae that I have.

Look for it at gardening stores. Not Walmart or Costco lol. But a hydroponics store will carry it

Well, I got my UV light working again, and in 3 days the water is almost crystal clear again. In fairness, though, it started to clear a bit just before, from being totally green, and not being able to see any fish.

My theory is that previously when the UV light was working and the water was clear, it was actually loaded with phosphates, as there was nothing to consume them. Then when the UV light quit, the algae had a lot of phosphates available, which caused my pea soup algae bloom. After a couple weeks of that, the phosphates were depleted, and the water started to clear again.

Anyway, it all looks good now, and the fish are fine.
