I'm not 100% I'm a camera newb, I am kind of just figuring it out by playing with settings, though I have no real Idea what they do :lol::lol:

Your best bet is to add light. Can be done with an added flash from above instead of through the glass.

That way you can use faster shutter speed, smaller aperture and lower iso

But you'll loose the actinic effect, might as well just take pictures will all lights on.

Put a blue gel on the flash.

would a clear blue vinyl serve the same purpose?

Blue doesn't create actinic and it'll just wash out any effect from it making everything blue. Plus I don't believe a the P500 would support external remote flash plus he likely doesn't have the external flash. Shooting the flash through glass from the top of the camera rarely works.

Thanks I'm happy with those ones, I just hate trying to get macros with the tripod at night its a pain :P
