Ten - twenty years ago, very few homes in the Lower Mainland were priced at $1,000,000 plus. Over the last 7 years, million dollar homes became commonplace, not because they are actually worth anything close to that but simply because of the market (lots of overseas buyers), the Olympics, the climate, etc. The median price for a home in the Greater Vancouver region is $623,000 (up 7% in the last year), whereas you can buy homes for a fraction of that in other parts of the country without selling off your first born:twised:
Nice looking house but my parents bought their place in Vancouver (not suburb of Coquitlam) for $700000 with the same square footage back in 2001. Their latest assessment is well over a million now. |

Very nice house!
One day I will be building my last home, would love to have someone tell me how much with the tank, but that won't happen. One can cross fingers though. I am hating the thoughts of moving my system when the time comes. Already figured that I would have to sell all contents, slowing dismantle and dry things out. Plan this months in advance, so when the time comes, I can pay some good folks to do the move for me. Or Own 2 houses for a bit, build a new system in the new house, transfer everything, then sell the old system Again, I dread the thought, but have spent some time, figuring out what to do. NOT FUN!!! |

1/2 a duplex near the downtown core can be a million here in Calgary:neutral:

Just to put things in perspective for Calgarians and Edmontonians... (sp?? My apologies)... This house is about 35-45 minutes away from downtown Vancouver.
I live in a house just down the hill from this one and is 1/2 the size. A house this size in Vancouver could reach the 3-4 million range... A friend was looking at a house in Vancouver 10 minutes away from downtown.... 2500 square foot for 2 million... Or 2.2 million... Give or take!!! This city is CRAZY expensive.... |

In Westwood Plateau, over 4000 sq ft backing on to the golf course and only 1M ?? Seems awfully low to me.
My friend's place in Westwood Plateau was just over 3500 sq ft with smaller lot and sold for 1.6M a month ago......and it didn't have a nice tank like that one does! |
