lots of ways, CA reactor, manual or automatic dosing with DIY solutions or store bought pre-mixed, this article takes in account costs

Nobody has mentioned kalkwasswer. It is a balanced alkalinity and calcium supplement. As long as your ca and alk demand are'nt super high (ie loaded SPS tank) you can get away with just using kalk (calcium hydroxide).

Agreed, although my last tank was a fully loaded SPS tank and kalk did the job just fine.
