I know Mismaloya well! that was our favorite place to go. The ex and I had a condo just north of the Malacon in PV (in the venetian)...but would go for lots of drives through the surrounding areas.
It's been about 4 years since I've been back though. Went to Cancun last year and that was just as fun! touring the Mayan ruins was intense!

Actually Cortez angels aka Pomacanthus zonipectus don't really look like King/passer angels aka Holacanthus passer. Cortez angels are tropical eastern Pacific, from the Gulf of California south to Peru, the Galapagos and mexican Revilla Gigedos Islands.

Sorry I stand corrected, thank you. I dive in Vallarta a lot & I often hear the dive crew referring to these as Cortez but then again I've heard them say other things I know are incorrect so there you go. Gorgeous fish no matter what you call it. :biggrin:

I agree King angels are gorgeous and by far my absolute favorite fish which is why my fowlr tank is set up for my super mean king angel.

Its a great little town....went to the Zoo there.....sampled some good tequila!! really good there! Our last trip prior was to the Cancun side......we stay in Tulum or close by. Akumal was a great spot close by to snorkel....
