The problem with getting out of the hobby to use the money to pay off debts is that in this economy, you'll lose sooooo much money on your stuff that it'll make you sick thinking about it.

Good luck and try not to get too stressed out about it all.

All very true. I know when I sold my system I was thinking the same thing but looking back I needed every last cent from the sale of it. Sounds like Mike's situation is not as dire so perhaps he shouldn't sell it.

Lol ... so did i ... As for the advice .. if selling everything gets you where you want to be ... then so be it ... however you need to be happy and sane as well. You loose way more then you spent trying to sell off the Marine stuff ... so i wouldnt personally ... however with recent increases in electricty i am starting to rethink my strategy as well.

Lets focus on the task at hand (see below)...lol I would take one but with a punnie 40 gal I don't think any of them would be too happy.

Well I know exactly how you feel, due to an increase in bills, I myself have been going back and forth on shutting one of my 230g tanks down. However it would all depend on how much I could actually sell it for. The extra money would be helpful but I'd rather not take to much of a loss on it.

Well I have been thinking alot about this. If I take donw the tank thati have the 150 and replace it with a another tank and stand of smaller footprint the only thing that im going to get is the less of 1 MH and the odd sale of some fish and so oh ya the filling in of the wall too. so unless i get top dollar which i wont i wont be taking it down. so to all that have helped me out with their responses thank you so much to all the close pms that i received thanks for the positive direction and help....

as I would say to others SUCH IT UP BUTTER CUP a little humour lol

On my 220g, before it cracked, I had on only 2 out of 3 metal halides & it looked really good with the center light off & the contrasting lights & shadows.

Skimmerking 09-28-2010 06:15 PM

Anthony I only have 2 on my 150 now sold off the 3rd

At Ease Soldier!
As was stated earlier by Anthony you are unfortunately not going to get anywhere near what your stuff is worth, unless you get very lucky and find a buyer who's willing to pay because he/she is in love with your system. If at all possible Mike, hold on to what you've got and try downsizing in smaller areas such as less fish, less food; no SPS, therefore less light, less flow; cut back on the fancy dosing products, etc. at least until things turn to the better for you. Good Luck!

Skimmerking 09-28-2010 10:30 PM

well i dont dose just my Kalk doser that is it , no SPS, just my acans and the way its going they are all starting to receed so it wont matter. **** off sloosing some nice pieces too.
