I think the problem is that you probably won't find it at middleman pricing, as if you can, then can everyone else, and then what is to come of the LFS if we can just bypass them on everything.

Good Luck, personally I would go to someone like Kevin @ Red Coral and explain what you want... If I was him, I would rather make 5% on something after all expenses, than nothing... and then you get what you want.

Give that a try.

There is basically 1 distributor in Canada.

To purchase it from the USA in the East Coast from IO direct would kill any savings you hope to make.

A skid is only 36 pails, and the supplier will not deal with end users. We even have problems getting responses from them at times.

The price that BigAl's charges is at their cost not including shipping. They do that to get people in the door, and take the loss for the shipping.

Kelly and I tried to order a few skids in the past and the prices aren't the greatest.

If you want, and depending on the salt, I can check what it'll cost to get it dropped shipped to Calgary.

BTW, if it's IO, I would recommend the 200gal boxes.

I just recently got my skid of salt in.

wondering why

It takes up less room compared to the buckets and gives 200 gal instead of 160 and I think it costs about the same might be just a little bit more.

You don't pay for the bucket, and get another 40 gallons worth of salt for about $7.

Easier to ship too, most skids hold 36 pails, for just boxes it holds 40 boxes.

ease of sealing a box so the salt doesn't clump up?

Save an old salt pail, empty box into pail, what doesn't fit in will be use fairly quickly.
