I was something I tried when I was a Kid 14 or somthing. Only thing I had laying around the house. Tasted pertty good, but rember If you don not watch. Jager will knock you on your ARES. Now I just keep it on Hand.

Finally the over flow is out! Now on to the silicone.

ALBERTA REEF 04-10-2010 09:18 AM

Well the silicone is removed. It looks like it is not going to be a simple reseal. As i was removing the silicone I noticed the bottom pane is not centered. Back pane bottom centerer no silicone and same with the right pane bottom (corner to corner). Water under the silicone. Dam manufactured tanks. I will be busting this tank apart and rebuild. I hate removing the black plastic trim and cleaning silicone. I going to stop for now. Punch some holes tomorrow Today! Just in case the bottom pane cracks, then bust it apart.

The good news the leak looks like it has salt creep and stopped leaking for now. So it give me some time. Crossing fingers.

I did some work to day. busted the tank a part. Had to cut the plate trim off. There was more silcone holding the trim on then the whole tank. Here are some pic's.

Murphy has just popped his head out again! Drilling my last hole in the center hole. the pane chipped out big. Here are some pic's. Most likely I can not us this bottom pane. I have a spare piece of glass, but it has to be cut, and drilled. It is L48XW24. So I could get the bottom pane and the top bracing out of it.

Yikes! Looks like a lot of work! Good for you for taking on the challenge!....:surprise:Hope your luck turns around on the rebuild...

The chip doesn't look too bad in the photo .. ? I think if the bulkhead covers it you'd still be OK. Although I guess if you have a spare piece anyhow then there's no harm in starting over.

Having drilled my share of pieces over the years, one thing I wish I had at my disposal was a drill press.

Where the chip out is on the dry side. I have talked to another reefer. He said the same. I am tempded. I need to fined a place that cuts glass and how long it would take them.
