So what is the good stuff Christy? I use Seachem is there something that works better? I agree with Jonathan it's a calcium reactor but if $35 buys reef advantage and $350 buys reactor that's a lot of weeks of allowance. :lol:

Well I was thinking a two parter may be better than what I've got but ultimately I'm getting a reactor as quick as one can be built :biggrin:

Does the Turbo calcium work well? Is it safe to use? I heard that stuff is powerful stuff. I have used the liquid before. Can you make a big batch of the powdered stuff and store them in the empty liquid containers and use them like the liquid stuff?

I think the turbo calcium is just to get your levels up right away and then you use something else to maintain it. Turbo calcium is CaCl so I would imagine the chlorine biproduct wouldn't be all that fantastic for your tank.

Not only what Christy said but you'd have an awful time keeping your alkalinity up.

As a side point, the "two part" additives have a side effect of raising your salinity over time. The additives are usually made of various chloride salts (as Christy mentioned) and also Sodium salts (like sodium bicarbonate, etc). The combination of this has the effect of raising the amount of sodium chloride in your tank. I've been using B-ionic in my tank for a few years now and while it works great, I have to watch my salinity as the months go by.
