For future reference, if you use IO, by following the additive amount of magnesium and calcium that Ben has laid out to each water change, not much else for magnesium would be needed. Mine seldom drops below 1350-1400ppm range.

Unless the tanks using a ton of magnesium that should keep levels up. If you're following another route, then something like the calculator Tom mentioned would show how much needs adding. I have never used Bens that way but many others here have. Its just a version of Randys, {RC} for dosing calcium, magnesium and alkalinity.

I use the flash version in the link and after adding, tests to the level I want.

btw the Mg mix I got from LSM already has the Espon Salt mixed in.

That is correct, for 95% of my customers I mix the two together.

thx

I do, I premix my supplements in containers, so they are ready when I require them. With the Seachem products I am taking the directions on the package and calculating my dosage based on their recommendations, then tripling up things in the bottle (this is both the Mg and Str), I then add RO water to the bottle, shake and let sit to dissolve... With my recipe, I am using about 1/2 cup twice a week.

So yes, I put the Mg and Str in one bottle mix. I then have another bottle for calcium... then I have Pottassium and then my Zeo Stuff
