Thanks for the input everyone! I will go with majority vote. :)

Red bugs seem to be gone. I'm crossing my fingers I caught them early enough, and that is all I will see of them!!

Ok, how about this sweet new piece? No sign of polyps yet...

In my opinion the first two look to be varities a.valida and the 3rd I would guess a.horrida but it needs to grow more for a positive ID.

Not sure of the scientific name but looks a little like a candlelight acro, very sought after if it turns out to be one.

How does one use Intercetor to dip acro frags for red bugs? What concentration of drug in the water and how long do you leave them in the dip?

Should one dip all new corals??

Do you use SW or RO water to make it up?

If you can use it can you also use Program? Program comes in liquid formulations..would you use that? Both inhibit chiton (exoskeleton) developement.

Can you use Advantage or Revolution as they actually are cidal for many external arthropods.

Thanks for your replies Snappy and Oceanic! :) You're right Snappy, it does look like a horrida when I Google, but I could easily miss distinguishing factors on SPS. Oceanic, that sure would be cool if it turned out to be a Candlelight Acro. I've never seen one before. I actually thought it was a Bali Tricolor type when I bought it, but when I looked closer in my tank, it is obviously not a Tricolor. I'm interested to see the color of the polyps, but they still aren't out. I may have seen a peek of a couple last night, and they appeared to be blue, which would be in line with the Candlelight I think. I'm pretty stoked on this new addition no matter what it turns out to be. :) One of my RBTAs is threatening it this morning. Grrr...

JPotter, I answered your questions here: http://www.canreef.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=55913

Hey Myka, we went to Bayside last night and picked up the other one that was pretty much the same. Very excited to see what it turns out like!

Myka 09-13-2009 02:02 AM

Oh cool! I was wondering who would get the other one. :) Do you have many SPS?

Ellie_A 09-13-2009 02:16 AM

We don't have many at this point because we are still building stock back up after a big crash. We have a rainbow stylo, an acropora austera, a baby blue milli (all Coral Master stock though purchased from someone else). It will be an sps dominated tank one it is back running at full capacity, just installed new lights tonight so that should help.
