the wetband saw worries me more for some reason. perhaps no experience with one. But the diamond saw you should be alright to get your fingers fairly close. that is provided the type of blade the ones I used to use to cut coring samples were blunt diamond coated blades, they would burn skin but it would take some serious effort to cut through me. usually hit the blade about once a week.

Heres a picture of my open brain after fragging with the bandsaw. The nice flat even cut should heal over and look puffy and normal again in a few weeks.
This is the second time I've fragged this brain, the first time I used a rotary tool which did the job but not very well... The brain was once a really nice big piece but because my tang wont leave it alone I have to keep it in my frag tank.
