Van the points work different in Alberta than they do here.. you can's simpaly buy a clean lisence in Alberta like you can here.

If it is still the same the points disapear 2 years from the date of the ticket in Alta. (is it still the same?)

We have a demerit system, if that's what you guys are talking about. The cop didn't say I got any so I think I'm ok.

You will most certainly get demerit points. Only photo radar and red light cameras are registered owner. All others get demerits, which come off after two years, but stay on insurance for three years.

My dad says he sees cops roll through that intersection all the time, I'm almost tempted to go sit there for a day and watch with a video camera.
That won't hold any water in court. You got a ticket for committing an offence. It has nothing to do with what someone else did.

The only other time I've ever been ticketed, I didn't get any demerits, as far as I know. Wouldn't that cause my insurance to go up?

You would have to go to a registry office to look that up. Insurance going up depends on the insurance company.

Agreed, I'm a nutter on the road. Problem is, this wasn't even a speeding ticket. Those I can live with, but it's really annoying to get slapped this hard for a relatively minor offense.

A few years ago, a guy in a pick up failed to stop while crossing HWY 16 West. He just kept going across the four lane divided highway. We were on our way west and for whatever reason, he just kept driving through all the stop signs. We slammed on our brakes when we realized that this guy either did not see us, or was thinking he'd cross the four lanes before we got there. But, dang, we hit him on the side of his behind the back tires despite braking hard. A nano-second difference would have been the difference between life and death in our situation.

Our car was totalled. When the towtruck driver arrived at the scene, he thought he'd be seeing dead bodies. Chris was driving and had an airbag to cushion his impact, but I didn't and had to deal with whiplash for the next eight freaking months because of that idiot.

That collision was preventable. We had a hard look at our own driving methods and decided to drive the speed limit and stop at ALL stop signs and even most of the yield signs too.

Not to slam you, Quinn, but road safety laws are there for a good reason. I hope you learn something from that big fat ticket.

True Bev, I have been being far more careful about it now.
