That's awesome! I meant to put Acme, no idea why Airdrie came out. That'd be my good friend Sandi. She has several of my cockatiels. What a small world sometimes, lol.

It sure is a small world! :)

Sandi was so very helpful! She even met up with my wife in Calgary so we didn't have to drive out to Acme... allthough I think we will head out in May once they have thier greenhouse open up for the year.. and who knows... maybe come home with another bird or two.

Good looking birds Greg!

I'm sometimes amazed at the noise that can come out of my Gouldian finches, but I knew what I was getting into when I brought home my green wing Macaw... He's pretty good now though, except for if you have the nerve to walk in the door and not say hello to him.

Nice looking birds. I thought I read somewhere that Figs were poisonous to birds. Don't quote me on it but you might want to research it and TEFLON pans when cooking around our feathered friends!

Never heard about figs before but teflon is a big danger(silent, ordorless and can act fast). If you're looking for some general can tips you can a peek at my site, it lists some dangers http://www3.telus.net/public/dcmills/denommesdarlings go to the tiel care page.

hmm, just did a bit of google search and there aeems to be info on both sides about the ficus when it comes to birds.. most seem to say it is ok but for a few species.

We try to be very careful about what plants we keep in the house with a cat and a toddler. :)

I had read about the teflon, We rarely use a teflon pan for cooking but know now to be sure to use it safely.

Hey, this is Jason's wife!
Your birdies are beautiful!

There's a lot to learn when owning birds, it's almost a life altering experience!

In addition to teflon, there are a lot of things you should avoid around them. Basically anything "smelly" is bad, scented candles, incense, strong smelling cleaners (especially pine scented), wood burning fire places, oven roasting bags, I could go on for days!

There is a great book in "birds for dummies" that is a good reference to have.

....

Cats, don't forget to add cats as a good thing to avoid. Unfortunately my love bird fell in love with the cat. I'm not sure the feeling is reciprocated in quite the same way

I appreciate the advice :) Before we even thought about getting birds we did as much research as we could find. (surprisingly there is not near the amoutn of online info for our feathered freiends as we have for our fish friends)

I'll have to take some pictures of our cat watching the birds.. he still thinks we brought him home a snack.
