I intend to drill mine. I never did it before. Any tips would be appreciated.

I purchased the cheap diamond hole bits off ebay from the guy from hongkong. He's really popular with the RC site DIY fanboys. Anyways I just bought one of those 65 cent toilet wax rings to hold water like a dam while I drilled in order to cool the bit. Started the bit on like a 45 degree angle and slowly worked to a 90 degree. Then I just let the weight of the drill work its way through the glass. I did 3 holes and almost pooped my pants with each one but in the end it really wasn't that hard and i'll have no problem drilling my next tank.
Oh yeh, I actually have pictures somewhere that I could resize and post for you if you really need them. Will check this thread tomorrow, off to bed I go! |
Did you use a template to start the bit ?

call mitch at bow valley aquariums. I think he charges $25.00 per hole and it takes about 20 min to do. He does his with adrill press, really cool
