I didn't know that only wild caught darts are poisionous. It must be in something they eat? Very cool. Love the metallic sheen.

Yep, it's diet.

Nice viv, what size tank?

LeeR 05-06-2009 04:47 PM

I didnt have heat issues with the halide before just the bulb burnt out and i had the current fixture sitting around.
I have never tried licking my frogs.
Its an 18 inch cube from sea star.
its either the mites they eat or the ants they eat in the wild that make dart frogs poisonous.

Nice froggies and a great looking viv!
Did you try any orchids? I've got a few that are still hanging in under a 150w MH except for my favorite the Macodes petola was decimated by a slug.

super7 05-06-2009 10:48 PM

i do have a dwarf orchid in my viv, it hasnt grown or died, its just stayed the same, lol, so ill see what happens to it, not going to bother with any more if it doesnt do anything,
Thanks for looking and all the kind words,
Super7

what do you feed them? and where can a person get them, also how hard are they to keep?

super7 05-07-2009 04:01 AM

I dont find them to hard to keep, but just like reef keeping do you research! I feed hydei and melongaster fruit flies (wingless) and you can get them locally on canadart.org or on this site;
