I've seen a couple of guys from thompson buy stuff from salt water connection in winnipeg and drive it back. Just make sure it's your last stop on the way home.

I'd like to start a 20 gallon reef tank, and I'm sort of lost on where to start... actually, let me rephrase that, I know where to start but as I'm in a remote community (8 hours from Winnipeg, 6 from Saskatoon) there is nothing in terms of LFS. Walmart doesn't count .

So my question here is, what are my options for things to put in my tank, being that there is no LFS? Is buying online and having it shipped to the local Purolator depot my only option?

Some insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I lived in Thompson for 30yrs. so have a bit of experience there. Although I dont know if the bus ships inside anymore, I use to have livestock sent overnight on the bus and for a small fee, they put it inside. That was a few moons ago, so perhaps not an option anymore?

As others said, I did bring a lot back with me on trips to Winnipeg. I also use to take some fish and lots of coral frags to Winnipeg to sell or trade. I used Rubbermaid tubs and ran a small power head and heater if needed, powered by an inverter.

Never lost a thing that way, or even by bus for that matter.
