My 6 yr old CBB will go for right after ANY clam. Ornamental or $0.50 cent ones.

I tried putting a clam in my QT tank (that had the CBB in it) and he went right for the calm after about 2.5 secs.

I am selling all my clams as they have lived in the sump for quite some time now.

Aw that is too bad. Really sorry to hear about your loss. I just hate losing a fish - makes me rethink this hobby every time.

Think I've finally figured out what's been doing in my blastomussa's .... all of a sudden about 2-3 months ago they just started receding, receding, receding, and all this time I'm thinking, "...what now?" thinking it's related to whatever it is that does in SPS in this particular tank. I just picked up one of them in my hand to look at it closer, and my CBB comes up to me all happy! "Right on!! Thanks for holding it up so I can get to it easier!!! <pick!> <pick!>" .... I've sometimes held up rocks in my hand so he can eat the aiptasia on those rocks, same kind of thing.

I've moved the blastos into a different tank ... we'll see if they come back!

Really is hit and miss, I guess with these CBB's then, for the reef-safeness factor ... Just weird that I've had him for nearly 2 years and out of the blue develops a taste for blastos. Just goes to show though that nothing's a given!
