Yeah! That's it. I want to start zeo but don't want to pay a fortune for the reactor.

Where did you get yours Drew?

Der_Iron_Chef 01-30-2008 03:52 PM

Until I have a new stand (that I'm having built now) and a sump, I'm just using a Phosban reactor hanging off the side to start it off. I just shake it up once a day and it does the same thing. I only need 0.4L of zeolites in there right now, so it fills it up about halfway.

Hmm I guess that would work eh? I've a little more volume that you but maybe I could use a couple phosban reactors.. seams like a "cheap" fix?

Der_Iron_Chef 01-30-2008 03:59 PM

Definitely a cheap fix....for the time being anyway! It's just a little bit of a pain in the ***....having to shake it, etc. But whatever. It's a small price to pay for the potential benefits....at least until I can get a suitable reactor.

Considering the size of my system I actually use a rather small sump ~30 gallons and most of the real esate in there is already taken up by my skimmer, heaters and return pumps so I'm not even sure if I have room for a zeo reactor.

I ended up using a phosban reactor and hanging it off the back of my tank. Makes it easier to get at for the daily shake

Like the title says, started ZEOvit last night. It makes me really nervous, for some reason! I'm sure it'll all work out.

I'll be taking some before photos to see if this helps slow or eliminate the valonia that has become the thorn in my side!

Any random little hints, suggestions, praises or warnings anyone can offer in regards to ZEOvit would be great!

Hey there drew in my 120 gal i had amazing amount of bubble algae, after tranfering the tank from teh 65 gal to the 120 i scraped the crap out of the rocks it came back and so i added a fox face he eat every last piece. so i was lucky on that note

I did the same thing, i.e. "Phosban reactor" mine has 1/3 of the bag of zeo rocks.
What a PITA to shake that one !
So what i did.., i got a small vessel in the sump using MaxiJet p.head to pump water from the sump in to the vessell and overflow back to sump. I have zeo rocks in the plastic net from oranges attached to the plastic rod inside this small vessel.
makes it very easy to shake and flow can be adjusted using Phosban reactor valve.
I think this is ok because of the price of the zeo reactor and also no room in the small sump.
I would definitely get a proper reactor for larger system
.

My RSM is 82 gal total with the sump, etc so I use 1/2 a bag of zeovit in a phosban reactor. Shaking is easy with it hanging on the back of the tank. The hard thing is remembering to do it every day.

Drew, any update on your zeo? I just picked up a reactor and the rocks/basic three from Dennis today and I am going to start her up.
