Most recognize you are new to SPS, but as I mentioned previously a little research on the sunset monti would reveal this is a very specific, easily recognizable coral, made popular because of it’s bright orange pigmentation, it has been around for a long time and similar corals have just not been imported either as wild colonies or through aquaculture (unlike the superman monti, and many other popular named corals). FWIW, IMO this discussion would not even be worth while or honestly even debatable if it were essentially any other SPS. I can provide many many links for those who want to read up. If you want to see how the coral actually looks like, review the many US sites that sell this coral fragment. And I do not think they photograph with only actinics like you suggested (as the photograph I posted was from a fellow hobbyist’s site). Quote:

This is just SAD! I am so sad to see you like this. But anyway its your way i guess..
So you are the "Expert" but you need this kind cheap and childish way to do.. I feel so sorry for you. This is my last post on this thread. |
This is getting interesting ...
I hope we can keep cool heads and stay calm. Can any of you guys post good links to read about a "Real" color etc? And honestly its very hard to judge by the picture anyway IMO, so IF i want one, how do I make a decision ?. thank you. |
I appreciate your concern for my well being! And yes this is my way, honesty and accuracy, with the intent of simply providing additional information on the topic so people can come to their own decisions. I think it makes sense for people to read and research a lot in this hobby, but to think for themselves (which is why I decided to post outside my sponsor forum).
While I appreciate you think I am an expert, I believe experienced would be a more appropriate and more accurate choice of words. Some may say sad is being defensive about this rather than thinking of it as an opportunity to become more familiar with the coral, and consider just for a moment another person's point of view. I say this having seen both corals in person, I am not certain you can say the same. I have included a few links below for andresont, hopefully you will check them out as well (and maybe, just maybe, gain a little more perspective). Quote:
