Fishoholic,

Do you see any difference in color between your MH & T5s when it comes to SPS? How much of a difference in growth rate would you say there is?

one other thing to take into consideration is that MH light will be very intense right under it and then diminish over distance away from the centre of the bulb, with T5's using individual reflectors, you get the same intensity over the whole length. Plus the ability to run a dusk/dawn effect (assuming you have more than one 2 bulb set of T5's. I've found you just have so much more flexibility when it comes to tuning the colour output of your lights with T5's when you have a multi bulb setup. 6 lights gives you way more options for tuning than 1.

The SPS have better/brighter colouring under the MH. The growth rate is almost double (if not more) under the MH as well. Keep in mind it is a 250w hqi on a 30g tank and the T5 (36") is now (just replaced the bulbs) 3 mid day and 3 pure atinic on a 120g. I will say though, that when it's just the 3 atinic bulbs on, the tank looks great.
