Wrap up your Xbox with a bunch of towels or blankets.
Turn it on and let it over heat.
After a while it will get hot and shut itself off
Wait for it to cool down.

Fixed!!!

I've done it myself and know of alot of others who have done the same. It might take a couple of tries but it does work. You've got nothing to lose in trying. Google it if you dont believe me.

Was also told you can put a toothpick in the fan to get it to overheat as well.

I might try this yet if I can't find a good repair place... As I understand it... RROD is an overheating problem. The unit heats up and some soldering inside melted apart causing a loss of connection. The solution is apparently quite simple... they call it 'reflowing' the solder on the chips, but they basically melt where ever the loss of connectivity and re-solder it back together. So instead of diagnosing where the bad soldering is... purposely overheating the unit does a general melt and hopes the soldering settles correctly.

I was all set to call up one of these repair places... but thought I'd try this towel trick first. Finally just got around to trying it. It's working again. Let's see how long it lasts. Thanks for the tip.
