Haha, very foreboding soundtrack this time! What is the music, I don't recognize it?

Beverly 09-27-2006 01:55 PM

Tony,

Music is from the "Hard Rain" movie soundtrack, played by the London Metropolitan Orchestra. Music credits are always at the end of my videos, though I don't usually list the soundtrack it's from if it's from a movie.

Delphinus 09-27-2006 03:56 PM

Ah .. I have not seen that movie which would explain why I didn't recognize it. :)

Technically the orchestra is only performing the music - it would have been composed by someone (for example, like Star Wars or many many other great movie soundtracks are by John Williams). In the case of Hard Rain it looks like our guy is Christopher Young. In this case it it solely a movie soundtrack piece so it might be more kosher to attribute as "'Hard Rain' by Christopher Young, performed by the London Metropolitan Orchestra".

More info about Chris Young if you're interested:

Sorry .. I guess I'm a classical music geek so you just have to put up with my fussiness once in a while. :p

Glad you're such an classical music geek  Umm, but I think I'm going to stick with the way I currently attribute the music credits. Sometimes the composer is listed in my music library, sometimes just the performer(s). I'm not that hung up about who does what, as long as somebody gets credit for the music. Your way just takes up waaaaaay too much space

I've got some music by Cirque Du Soleil now. No composers listed, just lists Cirque Du Soleil as "artist". Will have to find some good songs from my newfound goodies for some new vids :)

Delphinus 09-27-2006 04:34 PM

Well you don't have to make it as long as all that, but the fact is the music is by Christopher Young. If nothing else, it's just from the movie "Hard Rain." I could hum the music and thus I'm performing it, but it doesn't make it mine, so saying "Music by Delphinus" would be .. well.. wrong. Sorry! :p

In the case of Cirque, all that music is proprietary, so you could just credit it as "Cirque Du Soleil" (although you could maybe mention the show it's from if you were really keen).

Sorry, I'll stop splitting hairs. But get it right then darn it!!!! ;)

PS. I hope you can tell I'm just teasing you for the most part, although I am basing my opinion on what I think is the "more correct"; had it been me making the videos that's how I would have done it. But they're your videos not mine. :)
