Maybe he is vegetarian Brad and just trying to "play" Good luck getting him. I don't want him by the way, but if some coral frags break off while you are catching him, let me know! Rachel

pop bottle

hey brad
cut off and invert the top of 500ml plastic pop bottle or gatorade bottle always worked for me. put a small prawn or scallop in the bottle and leave it in the dark for a while. preattach fishing line to the bottle for easy retrieval if you want.
but you will probably also catch your other shrimps and inverts this way as well...... so good luck

Ya, that's the best I've used so far. I'm sure he'll go right in, because apparently he hasn't eaten in about 15 months!! hehe

Brad, I'm all out of rocks  All you need to do is put it in a small plastic bag and go to it with a hammer :twised:

I can't even catch mantis I own with the inverted pop bottle trap.....

Find the rock and smash it. Fresh water dips don't usually work either.

Everybody stop telling Brad to take a rock out of his tank... I was there yesterday, and trust me... there ain't no taking any rock outta his tank without doing some serious damage to some of the most beautiful encrusting coral colonies I have ever laid my eyes on! Trapping or praying are Brad's ONLY 2 options...

no chance its a pistol shrimp wanting to play tag? They can look like mantis and would be why you have not seen any death in the past 15 months.

No, I've kept many mantis, and this is a mantis. It isn't really big enough to do much damage to anything I have, but I imagine it will grow. I had one of these kind before that was about 3.5 inches, and it could crack hermits, so I'll try to trap it. It's still pretty small, so I'm not in any rush.
