I had an XM system which for some reason kept loosing the signal and service. I replaced it with a Sirius. I prepaid the service (after buying the equipment) for a year. It was something like $130.00. Service from Sirius is much better but I actually preferred the channels on XM. Both were American (shhh) systems and tied into their network. Reception north of 60 on the XM was not that great however seems to be pretty consistent with the Sirius. HTH

i have mp3/cd as well, but there amount of music on there is just amazing, stuff they dont even play in canada, i'll always have it now...IMO i think XM is better, i wish they had a few more punk/metal stations, but w.e. hopefully sometime they will add more.

I have been looking but can't decide between Sirius and XM, I have had Sirius in rental cars before and it is awesome, how did you guys decide?

you can pay 450.00 I believe for a life time subscription but it is for the life time of that radio unit, if it breaks and you buy a new one you have to pay again.

Do you mean CRTC rules for content for Canadian programing?

golden69_ca 04-14-2006 08:22 PM

and to boot xm is no longer comercial free music so its no better than fm radio . sirius has an offer i thinks its a one time buy for 500 us and thats is a life time activation . www.sirius.com go check out the package offers . if you buy one from lordco you can activate it online at the web site for us service as long as you have access to a us po box . i think the crtc sould have no say in what i want to pay for for sat radio, example if they are going to screw with radio then do the same for sat tv you can get porn on tv , then i want both howard stern channels and becouse the can version hase the cbc channels ( that i already pay for in my taxes ) thay will have troubles puting channels on as sirius adds more like nascar and more thats planed for next year .

I have Sirius, Got that cheapie unit for christmas (think its $45CAD at Best buy now) and I pay $14.50 a month. This is the greatest thing! I've been through the rockies, no problem. Back country and severe northern alberta, again no problem. Some commercials on the comedy and talk radio, but none on the music, and it works really well
