I would be ordering from here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/300-saltwater-re...QQcmdZViewItem

or here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/200-Nassarius-Ob...QQcmdZViewItem

or here:

there's a few others on e-bay that are similar. Most have really good feedback... anyone had experience with e-bay snails?

hawaiiguy 02-22-2006 04:11 PM

does anyone know what the customs/brokerage/duty would be to get these snails from the US?

mr_alberta 02-22-2006 04:20 PM

Note that Nassarius Obsoleta are not the same ones available from most LFS. Nassarius Obsoleta are from cooler waters (much like Margarita snails). I think they behave differently from the "regular" Nassarius snails as well (Nass. Obsoleta actually eat algae whereas the other Nass. Sp. snails are carrion feeders). Just and FYI.

send Howdy.... a message he buys all the time.He knows the ins and outs on that one and I think he still has a bunch of snails left right now too and hermits....

Ok, so after following up on mr alberta's advice, I don't think I'll go with the Nasarrius snails. I'll probably get a bunch of Astrea snails, blue legged hermits and red legged hermits. Here's what should be available after I take some (assuming everything survives transit):

90 Astreas...................... 1.75 each
50 Blue legged hermits.... 1.00 each
25 Red legged hermits..... 1.00 each

If you're interested, and you live in Calgary or south of Calgary, PM me with the number of each that you'd like. I won't place the order unless I hear from enough people to get rid of all of them. First come, first serve.

Also, I'm assuming that most of the interest will be in Calgary so I was wondering if there is one person who would mind being a "drop off" point for me so I don't have to make several trips to the big C:)

re stuff

just a word of caution..
ask about whether or not they ship to canada before you bid.
most of them will not...in fact about 99 percent of them wont
good luck though

Hey, I have a large order coming up of quite a few Nassarius Obsoleta, I will let you know how it goes and give you the contact if everything goes well, there will be enough for everyone that has posted thus far. I am only bringing Nassarius Obsoleta, nothing else and shipment should be on its way.
Didn't want to hijack your post but figured if this contact is good for shipping and all arrives well, may as well pass it on.
Should know soon.

hawaiiguy 02-23-2006 04:53 AM

They do ship to Canada. I have a shipping quote of 65$. It seems like a pretty big gouge so I'm trying to talk them down right now.

Allincuddy, thanks for jumping in! I'd really like to hear how things work out.
