I have a new tank. I have a good RO/DI unit. I use that water in my new tank. I have brown diatoms. I'm supposed to. It's normal. They'll go away. Really.

After them comes the green algae. It's a nice green though....kinda Christmasy

Well, ro/di units are the best mass market water purifiers we have available to all us reefers. It does indeed make 99.9% pure water when well maintained. The article seemed a little harsh, but I bet you he's using a ro/di unit on his tanks too. There is such a thing as creating 100% pure water, but you'll have to ask the people in the nuclear reactor plants for it. :)

I was the same as you about a week ago about the brown algae and they are right it will go away. mine has turned green and now seeing things come out of my live rock on a daily basis.
