I tested my levels last night and there was no NH4. My Ph was a bit high and ALk low so I adjusted them using the 2 part additive and changed the carbon. Its a waiting game now.

Last night My toadstool was not as droopy, and my sps polyp extension was a little more abundent. My only concern is that my beautiful purple and orange monti cap will continue to loose its color. I hope it can recover in time. My patients is wearing thin with this whole reefing thing!

Caps are weeds. If they don't come back, let me know, because we can make a deal for pieces of mine, they grow too fast and I pretty much have to throw them out (*) at this point because there's no demand for them. I have yellow, orange, and purple. let me know if you're interested.

(*) I don't actually throw them out {yet}. It is a figure of speech.

To tell you the truth I'm not really sure if it is a cap. It is multicolored, Orange with a purple rim and it has yellow polyps. It is more smooth than the typical monit caps that I have. Sorry no pics yet, maybe if it recovers.

Reefkeeping is often frustrating. Everyone has at least one disaster to cope with. I'll scoot over a bit on the cr*p-has-happened-to-me-too bench so you can join the club!

But, honestly, sorry to hear about your misfortune

Well, its been about 5 days and some of my corals are bouncing back quite well. There is a gradual increase in sps polyp extension, my toadstool have some strange side effect though. At night when it is shrivled up it is very green but now it has an army camoflage pattern of green and brown areas. Has anyone seen this before? Unfortunatley my orange and purple cap is now a pale yellow, but im confident that over the months it will regain its former glory.

How does silicone put ammonia into water?

Brainvat:
Ammonia is part of the chemical process which helps the silicone cure, thus if the silicone is not fully cured it will leech into the water column.

Well its been a week and a half now and most of my SPS will recover and regain its color in time. 1 acro has bleached though, how can I tell if its dead or not?

Bare skeleton, which gets fairly quickly covered in algae fuzz.
