You're right. If I use the shoulder length poly gloves I put the wrist length nitrile gloves over top to help protect from holes. Still not tough enough to deal with picking up large pieces of rock, but definitely tough enough for placing/gluing corals and cleaning the tank.

I use the ones from Lee Valley Tools - they are excellent.
