Heres a reason... It has a cord on it. Who wants to see cords coming out of their tank???

Was told by a fellow local reefer that it's silent up to 40%, but starts whining at 50% and is really annoying at 100%. And that this is a common complaint from other users, not just his.

That's why I ordered two. The cords suck yes but two cords are better than the five cords from my Tunzes. At least the Gyres can be put near the surface so kind of less cord in the tank.

I still think my Vortechs were the best water movers I've had but couldn't take the noise any longer even after having several of them replaced on warranty.
Tunzes are silent but too big and well.......the ugly cords.

Regarding the noise reports. You can certainly hear the pump but I can tell you it is way quieter then my vortechs ever were.

Personally I love cords , I don't know how to achieve that cordy look without them:noidea:
