Thx, I enjoy it too! Not often enough though, I've only had it out once this summer for some silly reason. It was a build project when I moved to Vernon years ago. Bob's Special is the design, originally by the Chestnut Canoe Company. I built it with plans from Bear Mountain Boats who tweaked the design for modern strip/glass/epoxy construction. Although a 15' boat on the plans, by adding 1 inch between each of the 12 mould stations when you build it, you end up with a 16' boat, which is what I decided to do. Plans say it's still a fair design with the extra foot. Now thinking I should build another, 15' this time, a few lbs. lighter when I need to pick it up & throw it on the truck.

The bead & cove cedar strips were ordered from an outfit in North Van. Clear, old growth wood from the coast, so I thought a Haida Raven inlay in the bow was appropriate. The remaining trim, inwales, outwales, thwart, seat etc. are cherry wood. Inlay uses various exotic woods I ordered from Lee Valley, where I also purchased the boat plans.

Flying into a remote lake for some 'fly fishin' is not a bad gig either.

Beautiful pictures.. And I'm so jealous of you all! I an not able to take my holidays in August asi usually do, as my office has big upgrades scheduled for two of my buildings. But I sure will be rubbing it in when I'm off the whole month of December sipping fortified hot cocoa in front of my fireplace and your all out shoveling

I generally take my holidays when I don't have to compete in the rat race trying to get from point A to B I try to avoid July and August at the height of the rat race and take the calmer months like June, sept and March. Less stress and way more fun

This summer has been a busy one.

Married my best friend of almost 10 years in July. Had 2 weeks off, but not at all relaxing...

This was poor Tim.....we had a camping/outdoor wedding, complete with a pig roast and a bon fire later in the evening.

I was off the first week of August as well, but that was a girls camping trip, husbands and kids only allowed on the weekends...lol. Was a great week off. Honeymooning in February in Phoenix/Mexico.
