The overflow is in the back room so I don't really care about the noise so much.

Hi Deb,

Can you tell me if the slots for the overflow box are cut into the long side or the short side of the tank? Also, do you know about how big the box is roughly? Thanks.

(sorry to revive the old thread)

Newguy,

In my case they are on a long side. There is a curve cut in the glass, the widest part of which is "three eggrate holes" deep. The box itself is roughly 7" square.

mr_alberta 10-07-2004 10:23 PM

Curved cut as in a smiley face type curve? Also, does it go all the way to the top of the glass?

Thanks!

EmilyB 10-07-2004 10:33 PM

Yes smiley face  Right to the top, then framed over and eurobracing over it.

Ahh I see....ok, last question, I promise:

What kind of flow can you push through that slot?

Thanks for all your help Deb

Ah yes, but how far up is the Mak 4 pumping?

EmilyB 10-08-2004 05:27 AM

Well the Mak 4 is on the floor and split into two returns. So five feet maybe?

I'd make a bigger box for sure with a bigger tank or flow.
