I just tossed my red sea phosphate test kit in the garbage. I found that the colour that would develop in my test kit never matched any of the colours on the colour wheel. Like not even in the same colour family. Whereas some tests it's hard to tell I've been using the hanna checker for phosphates and find it to be incredibly sensitive to micro bubbles. So long as you make sure that the micro bubbles have dissipated (which you sometimes can't actually do in the 3 minute reaction time they give you), it's pretty consistent. But bubbles can be the difference between 0.00 and 0.05ppm readings.

I'm going to get the hanna range kit shortly.

If you use both test vials, putting reagents in one and tank water in the other there is no 3 minute race.

I have done it and never got accurate reading. The initial phase checks the clarity of the vial and the water in it and no two vials will have the same clarity.

I think its due to the fact that I always miss some bits of the reagent. Those things are extremely hard to pour! :twised:

I don't see how you can't get all the reagent in the vial unless you are drunk or micheal j fox
