Thanks Greg.
Yeah Doug most of my greens have turned yellow. But I've had a few people say the corals looked zeovitish even when I had the 97. |
All your sps corals have an amazing color !!!
Sorry if I call it a wrong name, but I really like your squared block anthias fish  |

I think Pinky Pie is more cute to call him though  I like this fish too much, but I am afraid to try to have this anthias again after having failed one time. I think it needs a lot of room for him to swim like your tank. It is so cute when you say he can't figure out where is nori comes from
|
he did awesomely well in my 97g which was a modest 3x2 footprint. he's more of a hovering fish... not terribly active actually (unless he's trying to keep tabs on the magically appearing nori). i'm bummed i was never able to get his gf eating anything but mysis. she eventually perished.

I snapped this to show to someone... might as well toss it in here. Greg thinks it's hoeksemai. I just call it the blue one.

Tank looks awesome Brett!! Being hungover as a dog (can dogs get hangovers?) today I had time to go through all 73 pages of the thread. Glad you finally got your big tank going!

Any plans to get yourself salty in the near future? |
Wowee, them's some gorgeous fishies
So, are you saying that you do about 50g a week when you should ??? Guess I never thought about it Holee, I just can't fathom going through a bucket and a half a month Good thing I sold my 125g  Maybe one day we'll have a bigger tank, with a few $K more equipment, but not right now  Loving seeing your tank as something to strive for Brett |
PS -
I see a new avatar in them pics  |
Thanks Greg. Honestly I try and pay no attention to how long a pail lasts. I'm often dumping what's left of one and opening another it's all a blur! I think a pail is nearly good for 3 changes but not quite?
|
I guess $40 +/- a month isn't so bad with a tank your size
How's your sock changing going ?? I'm having to change my 3 pretty much daily still, and I only have snails and hermies. I'm wondering if the new CUC is kicking up stuff from the rocks ie; leftover epoxy residue and such |
$40/month I wish! I'm using Reef Crystals... very reasonable compared to others but not that reasonable =)
As for the socks I run a pair of 200 micron and a a mesh 300 to catch larger stuff and bubbles should the first 2 clog before I change them. I have four of the 200s and have started machine washing the ones not in use with a little bleach. Wish I'd done this sooner! Wife didn't even hit me when I told her. |
That's a great avatar
|
Nice fish, nice pics, nice tank... :)

So you're running 7" or 8" socks, right
I'm running 300 micron 4" socks. 3 of them at a time. I have 9 When 6 are dirty, I machine wash them. I've stopped bleaching this last time to see how long they last as the bleach use every 2 days may add up  I'm still going through 3 a day, with no fish I think mine plug up right now as my sand and rocks are new enough to keep adding silt and epoxy residue to the water column ( CUC disturbances ) I hope this is the case http://www.smileyvault.com/albums/us...erscrossed.gif |
Wow that's a fast clog. My 300 is a mesh... the 200s are the vertex felt ones.
My 300 mesh would take AGES to clog... I've let the 200s sit clogged for 2 weeks and the 300 just collects algae bits etc but the water level doesn't even rise in the sock. Right now with good bleach cleanings my 200s clog in about 4-5 days I think. |
Hmmmm .....
My Vertex 300s are, besides being a very specific size, made of nylon The material feels like some kind of tent material or rain coat - make sense ? Bah, not raincoat either OK, not tarp material like an old tent, but more like a bomber jacket ?? Bah, I can't describe it .... I'm not a girl  I've seen summer jackets made of this material |

And you didn't confirm what size your socks are |

Every time I think about what I spend on salt, I just come read this thread :) Although I use RB salt, and that's still $100 every six weeks....

Wow, Brett, that's lookin awesome !!!
Some cute little mermaid you got there too  |
Brett love the fish man well done, listne man i need a frag of the Gorgonian man. have ya thought about cutting me a piece and bagging it in 2-3 times and putting it in a envelop and shipping it 2 day or do it with a thermo. and then i just ship it back. Lando sent me a frag one time from edmonton and it was normal mail and it got here and grew to a 6 " colony.
|
Thanks Mike!
A few people have asked before and when I am ready to cut it I will certainly keep you in mind. I'm not at that point yet... it's one of my absolute favorite corals in there and I just can't I'm sorry! |
do you realize that you ran a 4:04 ??? weird.

Thought I'd reply here instead of lockrookies build thread. How do you manage to keep your corals in place with the red coris wrasse? And is yours seriously a foot long???? I have an orange hammer coral from Snappy that he's now taken to and my brain coral was up against the glass, both are on the sand. He can flip medium sized rocks no problem. Mine disappeared for a day, but was back at it again this morning....he's relentless!
|
I was mostly just pointing out they get over a foot long... the problem will get worse lol. Mine is tiny he's maybe 4" long? but he flips and moves stuff no problem. almost all my coral is glued in place. i have a gorg on a frag disk that he tips a few times a week which i simply prop back up. i used to have it epoxied to the glass bottom and need to do this again.
|
Mine's about 6" now. He's an awesome fish, just a terror. Trying to decide what to do with him....if he stays this size, he's manageable. A foot long, good grief, nothing would be safe...lol
