No matter what type of vehicle you're in, please, please wear the seat belts, every time. It is amazing the amount of damage the body can sustain when thrown from even slow moving vehicles. You keep going even when they stop!!

I believe that falls under two principals of nature.

1. Newton's first law of motion.
2. Darwins law of natural selection.

The ones that get me are the passengers that insist of placing their feet on the dashboard I have lost count the amount of accidents I have seen where knees have connected with faces or where the dashboard was pushed back and the passenger became an accidental contortionist with broken bones galore

A dashboard is not a foot rest

So does spelling fall under the realm of English language arts? If not, you're OK, his educator will probably take care of it at school. If so, sir, you need to bone up on that aspect. "aggravating"! Capital "It" in the middle of a sentence will also make an English major cringe.

Thought no one was watching huh? My spelling's usually pretty good, but u shuld see my comprension! Ever since I took the Evelyn Woodhead sped reddin' corse.

I'm going to blame auto-correct and my laziness to unautocorrect

Also, ya, I'm not the greatest speller. I have a lot of misspelled words in my auto-correct dictionary, apparently

To answer your question, yes, spelling is a part of Language Arts. Thankfully the teachers are teaching him how to spell and not me. I just have to make sure he does the prescribed homework and occasionally explaining to him, "That's just how it it is son. I have no idea why there are two g's in aggravated or why that letter is silent."

mike31154 01-18-2015 11:25 PM

Thought for the day.

Idiots are not defined by or confined to a nationality. They may be found anywhere & include a certain percentage of our own fine country.

I've done some idiotic stuff over the years & no doubt been considered one by others as a result. Thankfully the decisions I make most of the time fall into a relatively rational category.

Recently I've taken to giving a new moderator a hard time regarding spelling. Does that qualify as idiotic? It is all in fun Mr. Kien!

Wait, you were giving me a hard time? I didn't even notice. Seriously, I am a terrible speller. Normally this would be where I blame the fact that english is my second language, but truth be told, I'm not any better with my first language.

I can relate! My 1st language was not English either & many of the grammatical conventions & pronunciation of certain words (like "one") made no sense to me. "Won" sounds the same as "One"? Won makes a bit of sense phonetically, but one is really out there. And when I was in school, loooong time ago, the subject was simply "English". Language Arts sounds so much more sophisticated though!

I have a twisted, dry sense of humour, so even the feigned idioticity (not a real word) in my post is an attempt at soliciting a grin, if not a chuckle, laugh or guffaw.

EDIT: The fact that you did not notice me trying to give you a hard time makes me sad. Wasted effort at the keyboard.

Probably not politically correct, but another classic. Unlikely an artist could get away with this today...

Mexican Americans go to night school take Spanish & get a B.....

A line from the lyrics of the song Mexican Americans. If you don't wish to suffer through the whole song, the line starts around the 36 second mark of the utube.

Most Canucks speak 3 languages unfortunately few are fluent in any of them

Canadian English, English and drunkenese

Sharkbait-huhaha 01-24-2015 05:19 PM

I ordered a RODI system and sand off BRS and had it delivered close to the border for pick up about two weeks ago. Had the chance to pick it up today and they forgot the RODI system. How is that even possible? And they're closed today.

Also stepped in my girlfriend's dog's poop this morning.

:bad-word: :drinking:

I cannot believe how some people in this industry can treat customers. I have had amazing results with sponsors on this forum I guess there is a reason why others are not on here.
Never again will I order from exotic reef

Partly cloudy, with a few spots of sun, 10 degrees C in Vancouver. What is this winter you speak of? :noidea:

Patience

A true test of patience is sitting by my tank a few hours a night watching every fish swim in and out of my fishtrap, except for the royal gramma i'm trying to catch. On a positive note, i'm seeing things i haven't noticed before.

Sharkbait-huhaha 02-11-2015 06:26 AM

Jesus mother of pearls!!

One of the biggest clams I've seen! Hand for scale!

Ha ha. Same for me. My wrasses were in feeding everytime but my target was to smart.............until the shrimp enticed him in by getting food all over. I was starting to wonder who was stupider, me or the fish.....

How is it I can find every type of nail and screw I could ever hope to find at Home Depot, Home Hardware and Rona except for the actual screw I really need. Very annoying

Why is it that every hotel t.v. remote control is a piece of crap.

That is so you will be stuck on their home screen and be annoyed with endless mindless commercials

That's because no one watches TV anywhere. Have you heard of the Internets ? You should try it. They have cats playing chopsticks.. wait for it.. WITH CHOPSTICKS ! It'll blow your mind!

chef 03-01-2015 04:30 AM

Gotta love going to a frag swap, buying a bunch of coral, and having a couple pints. Forgot all the awesome stuff I bought. Lucky (and poor) me.
