Oh if you have a canopy and the end is somewhat open to that fan intake you're fine. I thought you had pendant/open top plans.

Ya, the intake would actually be in the canopy, obviously you cannot see that from the pictures taken, but it does stick out about 2" above the tank edge.

Thanks Ryan, it's coming along, slowly, but it's getting there. Im hoping by Christmas to be operational, I would say sooner but I'm being realistic.
I'm going to talk to Dave or Brad about a sump, as thats the next thing on my list.

I was hoping for the end of summer, but..... ran into a little basement troubles. Like I said, Im trying to be realistic.
Im going to start the rock(base) work right away, hope to have it done in the next little bit. Then I can seed it with the 150 lbs I have left in the back room. Its amazing to see how many sponges have started to grow when there is nothing around to eat them.
At any rate, hope I can speed things up a bit, as I find myself becoming impatient as well. As nice as it was not to look after anything besides my kids all summer, I sure miss not having a functional tank.

Thanks it's actually starting to look like something. Im even starting to miss my monthly stop at RC. Haven't had a chance to see the new place yet, looking forward to that though.

Looking good man, love that rock overflow you built. Was that just base rock and some kind of cement mix in between them?

I wanna new tank!

It was base rock zipped tyed to eggcrate. I then used spray foam(used for waterfalls, and is marine safe when fully cured), when it was still wet I dumped sand and crushed coral on it, I still may epoxy it with another layer of sand, but Im sure the coraline algae will just cover it anyway and it will be all for not. It was actually quite easy to do, and I had alot of help from a few guys on RC that had done it before.
As for the new tank, can't help you with that one.
