On a lighter note

PEOPLE NEED TO LEARN HOW TO DRIVE

I had to stop at Home Depot for some plumbing supplies so my horn could have a break

The government wants more money because we want more stuff. We want less traffic, better infrastructure, more doctors, better health care, more immigration services, more police, better education system... We all want something that the government is responsible for providing. Someone has to pay for it all. Our System isn't perfect, but it's not terrible either. There are a lot of terrible systems in the world. Just ask someone who has come from a communist state, or a dictatorship,. I for one am quite happy to pay my taxes and do my part. The result is a great education and health system that I had the fortune of growing up in and raising my kids in. As well as safe place for my family to live. To me, it is a small price to pay for these comforts that so many people in the world do not have.

+1 we got it pretty good here. Definitely has to be amongst the top rated countries IMO. And don't kid yourself I'm sure they would tax the poor and starving in third world countries if they had anything....
Looks like Putin is trying to give us a run though lol..... Such a swell guy ;)

Yup. There are some terrible politicians out there. Just like how there are terrible Canadians out there. However, you can't judge our entire citizenship on A few bad apples. :-)

jorjef 12-24-2013 03:22 PM

Who ever grew up wanting to be a politician? What a hideous, thankless job. I'm just glad there are people wanting to do the job. Anyone care to step up and give it a try?

mike31154 12-24-2013 03:25 PM

I dunno, but the current crew isn't inspiring a whole lot of confidence in me for the future of our fine land. Aside from the misspending of our taxes they don't seem to get a lot done. Prorogue, take some time off. The few times I've taken a minute or two to watch question period in Parliament have amazed me. A bunch of grown ups acting like a kindergarten class. And I'm not on any one party's case, once they get to Ottawa, most of them (even those with the noblest intentions) get turned after a few months. Yes we are well off in Canada and it's great that we have the right to criticize the folks running the show. Hopefully it stays that way and more of them start to listen to their constituents.

My post wasn't intended to judge any citizen as bad or say that the politician is terrible, I wouldn't know any of that actually!
It was to point to where some of the tax dollars go. That's all.

Well, I for one think it is a terrible miss appropriation of public funds. A better politician would make a choice not to such a thing. A better government would not allow such a thing. There are definitely a lot of holes in the system.

I would never want to be a politician. Pretty much every single decision you make, some one is going to hate you for. You can not appease the entire population. The best you can do is find a balance of sorts. There are a lot of good politicians doing great work because they are passionate about their constituents. For example, we have a great major.

I tend to agree with you, but this story, it's only the media side of things intended to sell news. I wouldn't think that this woman entered politics to do bad...as most politicians intend to do good like your Mayor.
Your mayor made the "world" news for all the good things he did.
Unfortunately, most individuals in the political realm have the negative things associated to them published, hence why most of us would never take on the task of such leadership.

Was tired if how boring and plain all my snails are , so out of interest decided to glue 30 polyps of zoanthids to a golf ball sized turbo now instead of a coralline golf ball cruising around I have something colorful :)

If this lasts I'm doing all my snails lol

I think you may be onto something. Why should tuxedo urchins be the only ones that get to cruise around with garnish

Parker 12-28-2013 04:16 AM

Been cruising some model train forums because I want to build my son something for his room and because his favourite toy is his wooden train table. Man, this looks to be another expensive endeavour! Lol

mark 12-28-2013 04:44 AM

^ big time. Couple of months back, club my Uncles are with brought their display to train show in Edm. It (link here to pictures) and others amazing the amount of work and detail. btw, their club got the silver at the show

Parker 12-28-2013 02:00 PM

I had a 4x8 layout when I was a kid and spent hours and hours with it. Nowhere near as detailed as those in the link you provided.

mike31154 12-28-2013 02:48 PM

I have a Märklin HO set from my childhood in crates in the basement. Have always planned to set it up again. What's out there these days is amazing, but my set is surely an antique by now. No idea if the engines even work anymore and I need a 110 to 220 volt transformer to power it.

Parker 12-30-2013 04:35 PM

Mine was HO as well but I think I'm going to go with N gauge for my son's layout. To be fair too his twin sister I'm going to build her a doll house.

Depending how old your son is n scale is pretty small and even putting trains on the track can be very difficult for children. Hobby wholesale has both n and ho test tracks set up so maybe bring your boy there to try out n scale first. Lots of free track plans on model railroader.com. Of course if the layout is really for you and you just use the kids as an excuse to buy stuff without the wife complaining like I do then n scale is great for people who like to do models.

Parker 12-31-2013 02:31 AM

That wasn't the plan, I have enough of my own hobbies. But you never know. Lol

mike31154 12-31-2013 02:48 AM

Yeah, not sure about N scale, if anything go the other way to G scale or LGB! Lehmann Gross Bahn. You can set it up in your yard! Have it deliver a beer to you at the BBQ.

Parker 12-31-2013 06:13 PM

I don't have a ton of room to dedicate to it. Maybe 24"x12' at it's absolute biggest. It takes a 24" radius in HO in order to run anything he wanted, it would be outside edge to outside edge. He's still pretty young so I have time to collect and stockpile a bunch of things for when he's a tad bigger.

jorjef 01-07-2014 09:41 PM

What happened to those two wild and crazy kids from down east? Having too much fun and put in the penalty box?, maybe a time out......

Same here, like yesterday the one guy at work, told him he can't use the Crane that he grabbed for what he was doing.... Smashed it into a heater 2 minutes later

Told him not to use the 400$ fan as it's for a specific job and we were told not to use it for anything else, 15 minutes later he tripped on the cord, knocked it over and destroyed it

All he had to say was " well you're not the supervisor why should I listen to you"

..... BECAUSE IM THE LEAD HAND AND SENIOR FABRICATOR IN THE SHOP

Flash 01-17-2014 04:40 PM

did you know that the handle in the bathroom stall you use to lock/unlock the door has the most bacteria on it in the entire bathroom and most cleaning crews do not wipe it down? Did you also know that 90% of the bulk pink/white soap you see contains air born fecal particulates which means you are essentially washing your hands with poop and potentially e-coli?!

Also it's safer to wipe your hands on your pants then use a hand air dryer (yes even the new dyson ones)

(yes this is what I do for a living as a facilities specialist for western canada.. I fix these gross problems...at least this is only one part of my job... I also sell Keurig and snacks for company's break-rooms!) lol

So very true. I had it out with my boss yesterday who I constantly have to manage and told him I've had enough of his temper tantrums....could be on the hunt for a new job simply as I've had enough.
