Beautiful pics. Your tank is looking amazing!

Scythanith 12-31-2015 02:41 AM

Labelled the watermelon chalice wrong. The one above was a Tyree Bazooka Joe.

Looking good Scott! The flubber is nice, but the sticks are wonderful! ;) Is that OP in first stick pic?

Scythanith 12-31-2015 06:44 PM

I believe that is the CM Cobalt Tort.

Ah nice. How are the Aussie sticks doing?

Scythanith 12-31-2015 06:56 PM

They are alive :) The green and lavender ones look good, they are in the main tank. The smaller frags have done nothing for me.

Me too mostly. The first Aussie one I gave you (with the broken branch) has been coloring up for me quite nicely, but then I glued it down and it lost some color. The two Papillares - one is quite bright yellow/lime corallites, but brown polyps, and the other one is just brown.

Scythanith 01-04-2016 03:28 AM

I took a big step and glued down three of the WWC frags... and I left them on the plugs!!! Haaahaaahaaa... aaaAHHAHAHAAAHH *maniacal laughter*

I still haven't placed the watermelon chalice in a final location. Waiting to see how the others do :)

:(

Scythanith 01-04-2016 04:16 AM

mmuuaaahaahaaaa :)

Honestly, I like doing that with LPS since it's easy to just clip of the protruding mound that has grown down the plug and voila, a handy sized frag that will grow back in and you'd be none the wiser.

Aquattro 01-04-2016 04:26 AM

Ya, in that case I'd agree. It's mostly SPS I get bent about, I can always tell if there is a plug under the colony :) Although, I may have done that very thing today with a tiny frag I'm afraid to mess around with. I'll regret it, but I couldn't stand the frag mounts on the side of my tank anymore -lol

Myka 01-04-2016 01:57 PM

Scott, just lay down an epoxy pad for future frags to grow on. Or, I've also glued a small piece of rubble beside the frag for it to grow onto for fragging.

Delphinus 01-04-2016 03:27 PM

Sorry-what's a WWC?

Zoaelite 01-04-2016 08:33 PM

World Wide Corals?

Tanks looking good as always :).

Scythanith 01-05-2016 02:14 AM

Yep, World Wide Corals. Absolutely great frag shop, amazing displays, unreal employees! If you go to Orlando to visit Disney, Universal, Kennedy Space Center, etc. you must save a couple hours for WWC.

Zoaelite 01-05-2016 03:23 PM

Scott I drool at all the ebay/ instagram photos they have been posting, how difficult was it to get frags off of them?

Also I don't think I saw a rainbow chalice in there, you in the market for one?

Scythanith 01-06-2016 01:21 AM

They were more than willing to sell them to me :)

I'm always in the market for chalices, just out at work right not to make some money to afford them! Send me pictures of what you're trying to sling.

Skimmer Juice 01-06-2016 02:17 AM

you were able to order frags from the states?

Scythanith 01-06-2016 02:58 AM

No I was physically in the states and shipped them to myself. I was 100% honest on the declaration as to what it was and after some clarification for the CBSA in Calgary it was sent on to my home.

Zoaelite 01-06-2016 03:42 PM

Just made up a number of frags, I will shoot you a PM when they have developed their new growth rings and we can work something out.

Not so much into selling ;), was looking to get my hands on a space invader frag if it ever went under the snips.
Levi

Scythanith 01-07-2016 01:09 AM

I wanted to frag it once for my friend. But by the time he made it over it had grown down on to the rock beneath it so it wasn't as simple as pulling it out of the rock and putting it under the knife. Now I am waiting for it to grow some larger protrusions that I can clip. The key is to wait until one is big enough that it has a mouth on it. Then I am fairly confident it will grow easily. I tried the theory out with a cheaper pectina and it worked perfectly.

Could be a bit of a wait but I am all over the idea of trading :)

Zoaelite 01-07-2016 04:06 PM

Stoked, let me know!

I'm not sure if pectinas are the same as chalices but it has been amazing to see the effect fragging the colony had. I think the thing that surprised me the most was the rapid development of eyes. Frags which had a single mouth are now developing 5+ with some unreal color change.

Do you target feed the beasty often? Would love to see some feeding tentacles if you ever have the opportunity for a quick photo.

ALBERTA REEF 01-07-2016 07:50 PM

Great build and Pictures.

Scythanith 01-08-2016 03:16 AM

I target feed almost weekly. I scanned my phone and was surprised I didn't have any pictures of the pectina in night mode. I will get one for you when I am home in a couple weeks.

Thanks Alberta Reef :)

How do I embed a youtube video so that it just plays on the thread?

Not possible currently with the version Canreef runs. They do show up embedded in Tapatalk though. :)

On the other hand, sweet vid! My Pectinia does not put out feeder tentacles except on rare occasion, and then only one or two.

mseepman 01-22-2016 03:24 PM

Wow, that is a crazy video...I didn't even know those could do that!

Wow, that Pectina is the Holy Grail for me atm. Well done!

It truly is the one of the nicest pieces in my system. The Candy Basslet, some of the blasto's, the large rasta colony... all some of my favourites.

Scythanith 05-06-2016 11:53 PM

Used three Magnesium test kits. An old Salifert, new Salifert and a new Red Sea.

Old Salifert test kit: 1065
New Salifert kit: 1305
New Red Sea kit: 1380

What the hell lol!
