Thanks Levi

I wanted to try and have all pumps hidden as much as possible, so with the two vortechs, they will be placed in the top two holes, with the bottom ones sucking water, i have four smaller holes drilled in the over flow to take water from there as well.

staceyd72 06-03-2010 12:38 PM

I see TOTM already :drum:. Looking great, and a great idea with the Vortech wall.

They are just getting started, my tank is their first build.

And for their first build, I am super stoked, as I think the designs will only get better, guess I should start saving for a new tank now.

LOL., before I was just using a straight stand pipe. What era was that from, haha.

water is going into the tank, might have pics up later.

lobsterboy 06-07-2010 08:27 PM

well a quick picture less update.

I got water, salt, aquascape and started the zeo system last night.

so hopefully with the 14 day cycle i can start to get things stocked here quickly.

The vortech wall works like a charm, its awesome, i just need to make a plug to cover the bottom intake holes. I have a design in mind and should have this done within the next few days.

The skimmer is over flowing like mad, but I think this is due to being brand new mixed salt, and epoxy used for the aquscape.
I am chatting with Mike, the skimmer guru, and he gave me a few ideas that i will try out tonight after work.

And I cannot believe how clear starphire glass is, its way way different that I had ever expected, I am so happy with this tank.

pictures will come tomorrow, after I finish the electrical, I have amillion cords that I have to hid.

Skimmerking 06-07-2010 08:59 PM

see i didnt know that you were using putty either. That is going to explain on why its over flowing too. open the skimmer full on the water level run it as low in the chamber as you can. and open the volute to about 4-5 turns out this is goign to allow the skimmer to run super dry and pull the trace elements out of the water from the putty.
