lol, Couldn't wait any longer for a new shipment to come in
|
I really dont think the 10000k bulbs over the clam tank do the clams any justice....way to yellow in my opinion. I had been eye-balling this clam and another one for about a month now, thinking "you know...these ones look like they have potential". The other clam sold yesterday so I figured I had better take it before someone else noticed the potential. Had a little trouble finding enough floor space for it, but I got out the old shoehorn and got it in there.

Nice clam.

^^ Nice! How big is that now?

Since the board seems so slow and quiet, I thought I would do some growth sequence shots.

The third picture up is awesome, so many colors. Hows the new Toy? Set up?
|
http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/IMGP3292.jpg
 I havnt had time to hook everything up yet....been trying to formulate a plan as to where I am plugging everything in....what goes to the DC8....what goes to the HDDC4....the logistics of the whole thing hurts my brain... I have to completely shut the tank down, remove all the old power bars mount the new ones, run all the wires and cords, etc, etc. I drew a little diagram for myself and came to the realization that I have 20 cords that need to be plugged in:surprise: |
Ye Old Power bar into another power bar trick. Then a label on the tank that says "In case of fire break glass". Problem solved!
|
:pound::thumb: Friggin hilarious.
|
Did you happen to get a hold of a serial cable? Ive been hunting around, and mainly getting laughed at. "Minidin8 to DB9" they say, "No chance, have you thought of buying a new computer". HAHA. I found out the Alberta Computer Cables could make one up for me, but if thats the case Ill just make it myself. Im hoping that setting up the Jr is easier on the PC, cause its painful with the three button menu!
|
I have the serial cable for the AC Jr.
BTW Doug, 20 cords won't fit into 12 outlets.. |
Josh
You have not seen my set up...15 power cords...2 outlets...hmm |

I am finally starting to understand people like Catherine and Tony who are clam addicted. The color of a coral is pretty much written in stone. A green digitata is a green digitata(with some slight variance due to tank conditions). Clams on the other hand are every bit as colorful as coral, but are infinitely different in their patterning. I tried a couple clams once before and both died within a couple months. Too soon in the tanks life for clams methinks. So I got discouraged on keeping clams for a while which proved to be a good thing as the tank matured to the point that it could sustain clams. Ive had four ( 2 maximas and 2 croceas) in the tank for a few months now and all appear to be doing well and showing new growth. A couple weeks ago I added another crocea and now RC just got in some small derasas(4"). These two will bring my total up to seven. At what point do I join the clamaddicts club? Keep in mind that they were in a shipping container less then 24hrs ago. I hope they will darken up some.

7 eh, uhoh, it's a slipperly slope from here!!!
Very nice though! That spotted one in particular ... very nifty !!! |
yah whats with RC pulling in all this stock. Dont you guys know my tanks not ready for anything. Nor will it be :twised:. They look good Doug, again just another beautiful addition to an already stunning tank. Its near impossible to recreate the stunning scenery that we see in day to day life (not so day to day in our case (Ocean wise)) but you have done a bang up job. Tip of the hat :yo:
Side note I am pumped that I managed a bracket in a bracket statement, and better yet I found a yellow smiley face tipping its hat. ^^^^^^^^------------ This guy is on fire  |

Josh decided to sell his small crocea and I managed to beat the other contestants to the buzzer and picked it up last night. I will clean the glass tonight and snap a couple shots. |
First pic is my green crocea and the blue one is the newbie from Josh. I thought they were pretty close to the same color but... I placed them side by side so you can see bits of each in each shot.

Not much to say about the tank these days....it seems to be on autopilot and doing rather well. All my parameters are now where they need to be and the results are really starting to show. Im really happy with the ACjr. I need to get a couple clip on fans for the tank as the variable speed ones I have been using cant be switched on by the AC. Heres some crappy actinic pics. http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/IMGP3312.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/IMGP3326.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/IMGP3330.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/IMGP3321.jpg |

SPS just hate you don't they ? Great feel of depth in some of those shots.
How do you mount frags/colonies? |
It's really starting to fill in for ya! Looking sweet!
This is a sweet piece! http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/IMGP3353.jpg |

Most things are epoxied or glued in (or a combination thereof) and some are just a friction fit. Others are just sitting there....like my purple/pink millie that just took a nose dive into an acan.....wiping about half the colony out (was just thinking about fragging it too):censored::frusty: Quote:

Doug, I have a potentially silly question.. I noticed that you don't have much sand, like what, a sprinkling? Where does your wrasse sleep??? I guess the rockwork, but I always thought they liked sleeping in the sand.
